Do you fee like you just can't cope with the things that are happening in your life right now? Is uncertainty preventing you from believing in yourself? Do you feel like you don't have a space where you fit in? Do you constantly compare yourself to others? Do you only see what's "wrong" with you? Do you live your life trying to please others? Are you constantly striving for perfection? Do you act out of emotion and regret it later? Do you find it hard to speak up for yourself? Have you lost interest in things that once brought you joy? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then please give me a call.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to improve their quality of life. As a mental wellness coach, my goal is to help those who desire a better understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their understanding of life. I have an expressed interest in assisting youth who deal with absentee parents, bullying, loneliness, peer pressure, anxiety, stress, social media comparison, feeling fault due to custodial circumstances and other things outside of their control, and feelings of inadequacy.

My professional strength is knowing how to help people calm down and regain focus in one of three ways:(1) counseling-helping someone get through difficult life issues such as the death of a loved one; (2) psychotherapy-which involves real change and requires a long-term commitment to healing open wounds; and (3) consultation-providing advice on a single issue or event where professional consultation could be helpful. Everyone has a story to tell and I am here to listen, to help and to heal. It is my unwavering belief that no matter what the situation is, our problems are never bigger than life.

Therapy means different things to different people. Regardless of our differences, starting therapy can seem scary and overwhelming. So we will start where you are and work together to determine what therapy looks like for you. I specialize in working with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or life circumstances. My goal is to be a safe, culturally competent source of support, which means there will be times that you will need to lead me, to help both of us grow in our understanding of who you are and what you need.

You may be the one holding everything together—your family, your household, your job—while quietly carrying stress, worry, or emotional exhaustion. When life shifts, relationships strain, or parenting becomes overwhelming, it can start to feel like you’re running on empty. Therapy is about YOU...your needs, your hopes for change, your life. It is my job to create a safe, welcoming environment for you to work on the goals we set together. People begin or return to therapy for all sorts of reasons. But often the catalyst is a significant life transition. Relationships are suffering, personal issues are becoming too difficult to take, or a particular challenge/situation has arisen. "We change our behavior when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of changing." Please don't wait until a crisis hits, get help today.

Intervention Therapists
How does an intervention work?
An intervention is a planned, structured meeting in which a person’s family or friends voice concerns about the person’s behavior and its consequences; the goal is for the person to accept treatment. In this meeting, the person’s loved ones (often with the guidance of a trained interventionist) share how the person’s behavior has harmed them and the consequences if the person refuses treatment. They collectively ask the person to accept a proposed treatment plan.

How effective are interventions?
There isn’t extensive research on the efficacy of interventions, in part because success is difficult to measure. Individuals often enter addiction treatment after an intervention, for example, but treatment itself may not work, especially if the person only begins due to external pressure from others rather than due to internal motivation to change. However, if all other attempts at helping someone have failed, an intervention may be worth exploring.

What are the limitations of interventions?
While a friend or family member’s intentions are in the right place in wanting to help a loved one through an intervention, there are significant limitations to the approach. The surprising nature of the event can make the person feel ambushed or judged. They may feel embarrassed or ashamed as a result, and relationships may be strained or broken. This can make it difficult for the individual to be receptive to the concerns of their loved ones and the interventionist.

Are there alternatives to interventions?
Rather than confronting a loved one through an intervention, an effective and less pressured approach is to create space for a caring, open, one-on-one conversation. This works best if the loved one asks open-ended questions, listens attentively to the answers, and frames their observations and statements with concern rather than judgment. More than one conversation may be needed, but change can take root over time.
