Embracing change can sometimes seem like a daunting task. Even when our life experiences have a negative impact on us and those we care about, breaking away from familiarity can be challenging. Often, we find ourselves unsure of where to start. Seeking counseling can be the first step towards creating a life that aligns with our desires and aspirations.

How often do you feel you’ve gone unheard in your life? There is a unique pain in feeling stuck, that you need permission to be yourself, or that you’re in a constant cycle of being everything to everyone while feeling unable to prioritize yourself or your needs, wants, or goals. Familial and interpersonal relationships are at the core of everyone’s support system but navigating feeling good enough and setting and maintaining boundaries in those relationships can be overwhelming, especially when you feel your coping and regulation toolbox is empty. I specialize in working with ADHD and Autism across all ages and couples.

We all have protective walls; they often contain emotions like a dam with water. You might notice that the dam weakening or perhaps too strong; you need release but fear where the water will go. My work centers balancing the dam and directing streams of water to lower the pressure. As a queer therapist, I prioritize creating a safe space for gender, sexual, and relationship structure minorities to flourish. We may be a good match if you are seeking guidance and support for complex trauma, neurodiversity, sexual/gender identity, relationship concerns, and/or substance use (with recognition of the healing power of plant medicines).

Hey you! Yes you! Out there scrolling through this website looking for a therapist and feeling overwhelmed by the choice. I am an autistic, fat, queer and chronically ill therapist who loves to help other similar individuals. I find I fit best with other ND clients. Most of my clients are queer, trans, ADHD, autistic and/or Audhd and OCD. I utilize talk therapy (psychotherapy and psychodynamic) so being able to verbally process would be highly beneficial. I speak sarcasm fluently but memes are still a second language I am tourist fluent in. . If I haven't mentioned something please ask- I'm always up for learning.

I am affirming of LGBTQIA+ individuals & alternative interests/lifestyles like non-monogamy & kink.
I work with individuals and with intimate partners. With a warm, accepting and curious style, I have helped clients with challenges like depression, anxiety, stress, difficult childhood events, self-doubt and self-esteem. In my approach, I help clients to understand the relationship between themselves and their situation—personal, societal and cultural—in order to create healing, self-compassion, and personal growth. When working with partners, I see the relationship as a system or interactions that sometimes need fine tuning to perform better and improve connections.

Look…I know asking for help with your mental health is a huge task and incredibly anxiety inducing. Sometimes you make the calls and send the emails hoping no one gets back to you so that can be an excuse to put it off further. Sometimes you schedule, and you no-show your appointment. It’s scary, I’ve been there. I like to think I’m not so scary. Let’s keep the intimidation of this task to a minimum, and make things about you and your decision to call or email your first step in your mental health journey. I would like an opportunity to talk and assist you in learning your goals or needs, and then partner in making them happen.

I am LGBTQ+, gender, and kink affirming, and I work from a trauma-informed, sex-positive, and identity-affirming lens.
Welcome to the shame-free zone! Sexuality is a powerful and deeply human part of life, but it can often become tangled with trauma, shame, secrecy, confusion, or behaviors that feel out of control. You deserve a safe, nonjudgmental space to heal from trauma, embrace yourself fully, and enjoy a healthy sex life! Many of my clients come to therapy feeling disconnected from their body, conflicted about their desires, or stuck in patterns that no longer align with who they are or who they want to be. Together, we will identify what is driving those patterns, and build healthier, more aligned ways of relating to yourself and others.

Hi there! I am so glad you're here. No matter what stage of life you're at, seeking help is a hard first step. I know, because I've been where you are - staring at the page of yet another Psychology Today profile, debating on if THIS therapist is to be the one who will get to hear all of my deepest and darkest secrets. It's a deceptively straightforward decision (yes or no to Therapist Number 26), and I can't tell you what the outcome may be. What I can tell you is this: you are worthy of healing, and you are deserving of a space in which you feel safe, heard, and seen. My goal, in all sessions, is to help you get there.

Hi! I'm Josie. I work with teens, young adults, adults, and couples navigating OCD, trauma (including complex trauma and religious trauma), anxiety, identity, relationship challenges, and neurodivergence. A lot of my clients come in feeling caught in cycles of overthinking, perfectionism, or people-pleasing - knowing something needs to shift but not knowing how to get there, even when they already understand why they do what they do. I use EMDR, IFS, somatic therapy, and ERP to help clients move beyond just surviving -toward genuine self-trust, steadier relationships, and change that actually sticks.

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialized knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.

Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?
Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organizations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.

How can individuals recognize a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognize a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?
Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
