It’s midnight and you're up again, unable to sleep, the weight of the world on your shoulders. Worries about your kids, your career, your relationships. Feeling alone and wondering if you’re the only one who wrestles daily like this-fighting memories from the past, wounds that haven’t healed, hurts that continue to get in the way of life today..all while facing the uncertainty of new life transitions. Everyday feels like another battle and you’re tired, overwhelmed, burned out. You crave a break. You have things you want to do in your life, an idea of the person you want to be but, something just keeps getting in the way.

Sometimes life leaves us feeling like we’re too much, not enough, or just broken. You might be stuck in worry, self-doubt, or hopelessness—pulling away from people even when you want connection. And the more you try to push those feelings down, the more they take over. Therapy isn’t about becoming someone else—it’s about getting honest, understanding what drives those patterns, and learning to handle the hard stuff without losing yourself. Together, we’ll sort through the mess and build lasting stability and self-trust. You don’t have to face it alone—we’re here for the hard stuff.

We believe that healing happens through the connection between the therapist and client. Life is really hard! Relationships, trauma, loss, life stages, and the daily grind have affected every one of us, but there is healing and a story of reclamation of true self for each of us. Navigating our emotional response to life is tricky and often scary, but we can be empowered to feel victorious in our ability to take care of ourselves. In the context of a safe relationship between therapist and client, insight and re-experiencing life through compassionate eyes enables us to practice compassion for self.

Approved Consultant for EMDR and certified. ADHD certified provider. Are you struggling with anxiety and past or present traumas? Maybe you are also struggling with sleep deprivation, if you are, there is relief available to you. So many times, I have heard people say that they have spent a great deal of couch time elsewhere before they tried EMDR. To see the relief and victory that they achieve by using EMDR in a relatively short period of time is just wonderful. EMDR is hard work, but the benefits of doing this therapy can last a lifetime.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
