Are you generally the person who takes care of things on your own, and haven't tried therapy before? Are you feeling lost or way too anxious? Needing to heal your broken relationship? Maybe you know that caring support would be helpful, but you don't want to be judged and aren’t sure where to start. Sometimes, when we place high value on perfection, we can struggle with judging ourselves, disconnection in relationships and the pressure of carrying the stress and anxiety of it all. I offer a safe place for you to unpack it all, and learn to approach life from a place of openness and self-acceptance.
To me, the best thing about seeing a therapist is that you are guranteed a caring listener who is going to accept you without judgement. Many people lack this kind of support in thier life. Everytime I sit down with a new client and am granted the privilage of hearing thier story, I feel honored. I know it can be scary and difficult to open up to somone and I appreciate that I am being invited into the lives of my clients. My goal is to be an advocate, a sounding board and a cheerleader for every person that I see.

When will the worry end? It seems you just can’t get out of your head. You thought that you had it all together, but the more life throws at you the more disconnected you seem to become. The worry has intensified; you feel like you’re falling apart. You seem more distracted and less focused. You’re no longer certain of yourself-and self-confidence seems to be waning. You no longer like who you’ve become and yearn for that person you once were

You are feeling trapped. Stuck in a seemingly endless loop of unwanted thoughts, fears, or painful memories. You feel like the only way to get relief is to avoid what hurts or do something…anything to quiet the thoughts. Your symptoms have made your life smaller and smaller until you don't even recognize who you are or who you were meant to be. You only see your symptoms. OCD, anxiety, depression, substance use, and/or trauma make you feel like you are on an island alone.
Have you been feeling overwhelmed? Maybe feeling a little unbalanced in your life? I would be honored to join you on your journey to healing in a safe and non-judgemental space. Whether it is anxiety, stress, depression, life adjustments, relationship issues, or other issues affecting your daily life, we can work together towards making you feel a little more whole again. I aim to meet each of my clients right where they are as I help them navigate their unique story. It is my hope to help you do the same. Focusing on yourself is important and it would be my privilege to walk with you.
I work with adults, young and seasoned, dealing with underlying issues such as anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and relationship related, guiding them through to cope with and/or healing through such challenges. Together, we will get you through a crisis from divorce to death and support you to "resurrect" from such major life transitions. I draw upon cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems, expressive arts (including visual arts, body movement, music, poetry and journaling), career counseling, eco-therapy and mindfulness, to effect change. In addition, I bring 30 years of working with individuals in higher education.
As a therapist, I believe in working alongside my clients in order to facilitate healing and growth. You are the expert on your own life and I believe in honoring your experiences with respect. In therapy, I work to create a safe and brave space for my clients and I believe that therapy is a team effort. By searching for a therapist you’ve already taken a big step in your journey. *Intensively Trained DBT Therapist* Deciding to begin therapy can be an anxiety provoking decision. That is why I provide an ease about coming to therapy and attempt to make my clients feel comfortable beginning this process. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults helping them get through difficult transitions in their lives. I do a lot of work challenging people to explore their aggression, self-harming behaviors, drugs and alcohol use, suicidal ideations, depression and anxiety. I also enjoy working with adults dealing with life transitions and helping them improve their moods and perspectives on life.
I specialize in evidence-based treatments (EBTs) for patients with OCD and trauma related disorders. These treatments are generally more effective and efficient than traditional talk therapy because they directly target symptoms and provide specific exercises aimed at breaking behavioral patterns that maintain symptoms. Traditional psychotherapy emphasizes gaining insight. Insight does not necessarily lead to symptom reduction. I focus on changing behavior because only by changing what you do will you be able to change how you feel.
