My approach is holistic and integrative, blending somatic therapy, mindfulness, CBT, DBT, and breathwork to support both mind and body.
You show up strong for everyone else, yet beneath the surface, stress, perfectionism, or old wounds linger—and you want change that actually lasts, not just coping strategies that barely scratch the surface. I help teens, adults, couples, and families navigate trauma, eating disorders, ADHD, body image struggles, and narcissistic abuse recovery. Using somatic therapy, breathwork, and evidence-based practices, we turn insight into real, lasting transformation.

Hi, I’m Demetrious Walker, a therapist for teens and women in GA and AL (Virtual Only). I support clients who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that no longer feel good. Many of the people I work with are navigating anxiety, grief, self-doubt, identity changes, relationship stress, or major life transitions. They often feel pressure to be strong, keep going, or have it all together—while quietly struggling on the inside. Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or carry things alone.

I can create a nonjudgmental validating space for clients to process and express their needs and goals. Clients are the ‘master of their own experience’ and I can help them navigate how they want to write the next chapter. There is a time for mindfulness, time for cognitive reframing, and times where the best feedback is no feedback. There are various variables that can have someone seek therapy so I will maintain a trauma-informed and cultural competent approach. There is no ‘on sized’ fits all approach. I embrace that no client is the same and can use their own strengths to be a protective factor on their mental health journey.

I approach counseling with the belief that we have all learned how to be the person we are today. We go through our lives acting and reacting in the same way we always have, because that’s what we know. You’re often catching yourself saying the phrase: I wish I could do things differently.
As a person-centered therapist, I believe that you have the solution you need. Often we fall into the habit of playing this person we think we need to be– when, in reality, we just need a little space and support to figure out who we actually are and what we really need.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
