My therapeutic approach is strength based and integrative, utilizing solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, emotionally focused therapy, and experiential methods. I believe the therapeutic relationship is vital. By utilizing a core humanistic approach, based on trust, nonjudgmental, and a genuine unconditional positive regard. I help clients gain insight into the past and evaluate present living to create a new perspective. Awareness of self and others, coping skills, and motivation of present living is explored to create new patterns of thought, new emotional responses, and new behaviors to not only heal and reach your goal but to thrive and live fully.

Working with adults, I have always viewed my traditional therapeutic training as my foundational core. It has been an invaluable guide, providing a useful framework and powerful methods to facilitate the healing process of my clients. While I rely on my traditional foundation, I have taken to heart many a clients desire to lessen their pain and have change come about more quickly. With this in mind I have sought out legitimate methods that produce deep, long lasting change and provide relief at a faster pace then traditional therapies alone.

Brainspotting is a powerful, flexible, client-centered therapy that goes more deeply and quickly into our stored memories than other therapies. These stored memories are called brain spots. We change the negative ones. After looking for the most effective counseling technique which was also cost efficient for clients, I chose Brainspotting. Brainspotting is based on EMDR but I find BS is best for pinpointing the individual harmful memories which negatively interfere with our lives. The Brainspotting process enables the client to identify and resolve the roots of traumatic or troubling issues.

My professional beliefs are based in theory that believes all people want to feel significant, connected and capable and therefore all behavior has a purpose. Patterns and themes develop in people’s lives often discouraging them and at times can inhibit growth and or decrease abilities to function effectively. Many times our patterns and themes can be traced back several generations. I spend the first several sessions getting to know you, your family history and exploring current significant relationships. From these sessions, we will jointly agree to the goals of treatment.

I enjoy helping children, adolescents, and adults face their current challenges and find healthy solutions to their problems. I have experience working with a variety of clients and clinical challenges such as behavioral problems at home or school, social skills, self-esteem, life changes/transitions, anxiety/stress management, and more. I am graduate from Richmont Graduate University. I have a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a certificate in sex therapy. I believe in assisting engaged couples in creating a strong foundation from which they can launch their relationship and I desire to assist couples in distress to heal and grow. I also enjoy working with individuals, helping them find greater meaning and purpose in their lives. I also work in treating trauma and I am trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
