VOTED BEST IN GEORGIA 2021! I have been in practice for over 25 years and after all these years I remain as passionate about my chosen profession as I did when I first began; perhaps even more so. Since 1991, I have worked with many individuals helping them to overcome fears, resolve interpersonal conflicts, understand themselves, identify and avoid negative life patterns and overall personal growth. I especially enjoy working with
couples
in helping them to understand and improve their relationships.

Whether you’ve been to therapy before or this is your first time ever, we value and respect your desire for healthy change in your life. Many of us struggle to cope when our needs are not met or are misunderstood, and at times, experience separateness from others. Most of us long deeply for true authentic connection, to feel seen, and for someone to “get me”. These thoughts and feelings can cause wounding and challenges in
relationship
to others. We are dedicated to helping people move through their challenges and feelings of disconnection and stuck-ness and into a life with greater vitality and meaning.

I appreciate how difficult it can be to ask for help when you're used to going it alone. At the same time, you may feel depleted and stressed from trying to navigate your way on your own. I've helped people from different cultural backgrounds with issues such as grief and loss, depression, anxiety,
relationship
and work difficulties, and illness. Many of my clients are 1st or 2nd gen in the US. I welcome all members of the adoption triad. Sometimes people seek support negotiating a current difficulty; others seek a deeper understanding of the impact of certain life events on who they are and why they behave in the way they do.

I am a person-centered therapist and I view the
relationship
to be of utmost importance in counseling.
Are you feeling frustrated & lost with everything that is going in the world? Do you want to move forward and feel stuck? I believe every person should be able to live life to the fullest! However, negative life events, trauma, relationships and we, ourselves often get in the way of our happiness, peace and reaching our goals. I have been able to help people "get their lives back." I assist teens, and adults with, trauma, anxiety, addiction, relational issues, problems with family communication, and more. I want to offer hope, assistance, and empowerment as a result of working together to achieve these goals (EMDR therapist).

I approach our time together as an opportunity to co-create a detailed map of your unique experiences and accompanying beliefs. This process allows us to clarify current and future desires, identify strengths and opportunities for wellbeing, and enhance skills. To make the most of our sessions, it is important we develop a
relationship
based on mutual trust and openness. I seek to provide clients a safe space to express their unfiltered self and receive acceptance. I see my role in our
relationship
as one of a
partner
, seeking to join you in your journey towards living a more satisfying life and offering tools to help along the way.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
