And I operate from a Family Systemic and
attachment-based
perspective where generational family dynamics and influences shape each person’s story and how they are in relationship with themselves and others.
I enjoy working with adolescents and families as well as couples who desire to find help and resolution. My other focus is helping couples who want to understand and love their partner better to enhance their marriage; or couples, who are in conflictual relationships that are struggling with disconnection and isolation. My passion is to come alongside young men in the process of self-discovery to help grow in awareness of themselves by helping to bring resolution to problems such as pornography, anger, anxiety, depression, isolation, emotional dysregulation, loss and grief, and spiritual confusion.

Brainspotting is a powerful, flexible, client-centered therapy that goes more deeply and quickly into our stored memories than other therapies. These stored memories are called brain spots. We change the negative ones. After looking for the most effective counseling technique which was also cost efficient for clients, I chose Brainspotting. Brainspotting is based on EMDR but I find BS is best for pinpointing the individual harmful memories which negatively interfere with our lives. The Brainspotting process enables the client to identify and resolve the roots of traumatic or troubling issues.

Womanhood can be beautiful but also so complicated. Whether you are in the midst of postpartum and not feeling like yourself, or have young children and not enjoying it the way you thought you would, you aren't alone. My practice and training serves women navigating postpartum depression and anxiety and parenting children from infancy to age 5. Many of my clients feel pulled in a million directions. They are facing major stressors plus the expectation to be thriving and doing more. As women we need to take care of ourselves first, but often are the last on our own lists.

Most of my clients are recovering from trauma or chronic stress, while many others come seeking help in overcoming depression, anxiety, loss, significant life changes, and parenting challenges. I am a certified EMDR therapist and have training in using this transformative therapy with both young people and adults. Two of my specializations are in addressing the unique needs of individuals and families involved in adoption, whether as an adopted individual, birth parent, or adoptive parent, and in working with those seeking to hold on to or rediscover their faith after spiritual wounding.

Whether you’ve been to therapy before or this is your first time ever, we value and respect your desire for healthy change in your life. Many of us struggle to cope when our needs are not met or are misunderstood, and at times, experience separateness from others. Most of us long deeply for true authentic connection, to feel seen, and for someone to “get me”. These thoughts and feelings can cause wounding and challenges in relationship to others. We are dedicated to helping people move through their challenges and feelings of disconnection and stuck-ness and into a life with greater vitality and meaning.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
