Having served diverse populations, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals, I get how the intersection of identity and trauma can shape your experiences. My clinical background ranges from social work, community advocacy, and mental health in corrections facilities. This work helped me create therapy that is anti-racist, inclusive, and compassionate. Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unseen? You’re not alone. Life can feel heavy—especially if you’ve spent years masking, navigating ADHD or Autism, or trying to fit into spaces that weren’t built for you. There is another way forward. As a Marine Corps veteran, father to neurodiverse children, and someone who’s faced systemic barriers, I bring lived experience and deep empathy to my work as a therapist. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed, grounded in nervous system safety, emotional regulation, and authentic growth.

Are you nervous, having panic attacks, shortness of breath, or maybe your heart is racing and you can't explain it; it could potentially be anxiety. Maybe for lack of better coping skills you have increased your use of alcohol or drugs. Maybe your family is telling you you are addicted to or abusing alcohol or drugs, but you don't know what else to do. Some people don't understand what is happening to their body and are fearful of where to go or how to get help.

People seek counseling at those times they are needing help to navigate difficult challenges. Often this involves relationships, or it may be the need for self awareness or dealing with life and the pain it brings us. I provide a safe place, a caring sanctuary, where you can share openly when you are ready. I am an experienced Pastoral Counselor and LMFT . Each person I see is totally unique and a "new book" ready to be read. You become my 'teacher" as you share your life, your relationships, your joy and your pain. I am a very good "student" who strives to help you find clarity, understanding, direction and hope.

I work with individuals or couples feeling stuck after trauma, grief, or painful relationship patterns—anxious, disconnected, overwhelmed, or numb, sometimes coping with depression or addiction. They want a therapist who is warm, direct, and trauma‑informed, and who can offer both compassion and practical tools. Their goals are to calm the nervous system, understand triggers, communicate with less reactivity, and rebuild trust and emotional safety.

Perhaps you're the parent who lies awake replaying the day, wondering if you said the right thing, did enough, and were patient enough. You're stretched so thin between everyone's needs that yours don't even make the list anymore. Or perhaps you're carrying something heavy from your past: trauma, grief, or wounds that show up in your day-to-day, your relationships, your body, or your ability to trust yourself. You're here because what used to work isn't working anymore. Because clenching your way through life is exhausting. Because you want to feel like yourself again or discover who that even is beneath all the roles you play.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
