An ideal client would be an individual seeking a better life and might be unable to connect the dots. This may include recovery from alcohol or drug use with a desire for long term recovery or attributes from growing up in an alcoholic environment. They may be married to an alcoholic. Their relationships have probably suffered and need repairing; they may not know where to start. Life seems overwhelming and even difficult. All that is needed is a desire and some willingness.

My work focuses on trauma, emotional regulation, anxiety, anger, and relationship dynamics, helping clients identify and shift the underlying patterns that keep them stuck.
You may be functioning on the outside but struggling internally with anxiety, relationship strain, past trauma, or patterns you cannot seem to break. Therapy should do more than talk; it should help you understand what is driving those patterns and give you a clear way forward. I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families to reduce distress, improve communication, and create meaningful, lasting change in how you think, feel, and relate.

Good therapy is very powerful and healing and can transform lives, and feeling understood and accepted is an important part of the healing path. I will see you from a place of respect, non-judgment, understanding and hope when you engage in therapy with me. "Being with" someone is both natural and learned, and I have worked very hard over the past 21 years to improve my ability to help clients by being with them in an empathetic and professional way.

My main focus is to help clients identify and build on their personal strengths so they can overcome the obstacles preventing them from realizing their full potential. My first priority when I meet with a client is to collaboratively establish therapy goals and determine what they would like to attain from the counseling process. Based on this information I personalize each session to help my clients achieve their goals. With every interaction, my goal is always the same: that you leave my office feeling that you were heard and validated.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
