I have over 25 years working in the field of psychology. I believe that the key to most emotional and psychological problems lies in relationships, those in the past and in the present. I believe conscious and unconscious behavior patterns can cause difficulties in life, and these behavior problems can be changed or modified. My approach is eclectic , and I use various modalities within a psychodynamic framework. I am also trained as a trauma specialist and
EMDR
therapist. I believe trauma can keep people stuck in behaviors and emotional dysfunction and
EMDR
is a highly effective way of reprocessing "stuck" trauma.

Experiencing a heavy heart of pain from a small or sizeable traumatic experience can keep one from receiving a life of joy. So many times, we desire to lay that burden down, but we are unsure how to free ourselves from the hurt. Hope is available. There is a process that can help anyone ready for a change. My clients say that they experience me as non-judgmental and caring while they process their painful places. I have a way of understanding and helping them to find answers to their hurts in an environment where they feel safe, so they can bring their concerns into a therapy session and gain healing.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy,
EMDR
/trauma therapy, and I am a Registered Play Therapist & Supervisor, allowing me to work with children, adults, couples, and families, including those considering or undergoing separation or divorce.
I believe that we are all trying our best and that we are the experts on ourselves and our families. However sometimes life brings us more than we know how to handle, and we may see symptoms of anxiety, PTSD, and unhealthy or disruptive behavior in ourselves, our relationships, and our children. This can leave us feeling frustrated, hopeless, and isolated as individuals, couples, and parents. Thankfully, therapy can help us and our children move beyond our pain, fear, and destructive behavior, and toward a greater sense of peace, happiness, and belonging.

I am also trained in
EMDR
, a powerful treatment that helps individuals reprocess past distressful experiences.
There are many things that may impact a person's ability to lead a full life, including challenges at work or school, relationship issues, depression and anxiety, and past traumas or losses. My goal as a therapist is to help clients move through their challenges and develop a deeper understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so they are able to live more satisfying and present lives. I do this by assisting clients in processing their feelings and identifying and connecting the things that have shaped them - including their relationships, thoughts, and attachment/trauma experiences - to their current issues.

EMDR Therapists
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an information processing therapy that helps clients cope with trauma, addictions, and phobias. During this treatment, the patient focuses on a specific thought, image, emotion, or sensation while simultaneously watching the therapist's finger or baton move in front of his or her eyes. The client is told to recognize what comes up for him/her when thinking of an image; then the client is told to let it go while doing bilateral stimulation.
