I see individuals in my office who are experiencing problems such as anxiety , depression, self esteem issues, childhood trauma, and codependence problems.
My intention in working with you is to help you change unwanted behavior patterns. These patterns are frequently based on negative conclusions we may have drawn about ourselves in the past. I typically use a blend of traditional talk therapy combined with experiential approaches such as Brainspotting,, hypnotherapy, breathwork, psychodrama, and meditation. In this way we are able to re-introduce you to your strengths as well as take the healing to a deeper level. I consider it a privilege to do this work and I honor you for undertaking the challenge of personal growth.

Reaching out for help can feel weighted down in fear and anxiety , and it is incredibly brave.
In a world full of people, you may be feeling alone, misunderstood, or not truly seen by those around you. This can happen when we are disconnected with those we love or when we are going through difficult things. We weren't meant to traverse this world alone, and developing meaningful relationships with those around us is important to our overall health and wellbeing. If you struggle in relationship with yourself or others and would like to learn how to improve overall self-esteem, healthy boundaries, relationships with family and friends, then you are at the right place.

I feel the same when working with clients. I enjoy being able to use my skills to help people move from hopelessness to hope and despair to self-confidence.

As a teen, I was overwhelmed by trauma and cynicism. It was at times impossible to imagine a better future. But many things worked together to help me survive those years of depression. Kind helpers went out of their way to guide and care for me. Every day I aim to follow their example in my work as a mental health therapist. I believe in the power of creative expression, honest connection, and above all: hope. I would be honored to help turn your struggles into healthy coping strategies.

"A failure is not a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying." BF Skinner, Addiction can feel like an endless cycle of personal failures, yet addiction is a medical condition. It's complex and often misunderstood by family and friends. Fear, confusion, and sadness can take up residence in your life. Untangling addiction from other mental health issues can feel daunting. We can develop a formidable team, working to develop your path from addiction to recovery. Together we will work toward creating your new normal.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
