I am interested in helping you as my client to reach your full potential and to learn to navigate life’s difficulties and challenges to become fully functional and joyful. I believe that living in the present is essential to true lasting mental health and that much of our suffering is tied to holding on to the past and worrying about the future. I decided to go into private practice to expand my experience and knowledge, and to reach more people who are in need of help. By setting my own schedule, I can be more flexible with hours and times for my clients, providing them with the best possible support tailored to their needs.

My practice specializes in EMDR half-day Intensives for women. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and is a highly effective and researched therapy which heals the brain which has been impacted by trauma and other negative life experiences. Intensives provide much quicker relief than weekly hour-long sessions and may be sought out by individuals with limited weekly availability or those seeking to reach therapy goals in a shorter time frame. EMDR is often helpful for individuals who have had insight and process-oriented therapy but have hit a wall as far as improvement in their overall life satisfaction.

Hey you! Yes you! Out there scrolling through this website looking for a therapist and feeling overwhelmed by the choice. I am an autistic, fat, queer and chronically ill therapist who loves to help other similar individuals. I find I fit best with other ND clients. Most of my clients are queer, trans, ADHD, autistic and/or Audhd and OCD. I utilize talk therapy (psychotherapy and psychodynamic) so being able to verbally process would be highly beneficial. I speak sarcasm fluently but memes are still a second language I am tourist fluent in. . If I haven't mentioned something please ask- I'm always up for learning.

You might be used to doing it all alone until life throws something at you that feels too heavy to carry by yourself. Even the most capable, independent people can feel stuck, overwhelmed, or off-track when the stressors keep piling up. If you’re finding it hard to feel like yourself lately, therapy can help you reconnect with your strengths and move forward with clarity and purpose.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
