Or, maybe it looks like OCD for you and you can’t stop analyzing or replaying things in your head.
In much the same way that a personal trainer creates a unique plan for you, I do the same for mental health. As a trauma-informed therapist, I recognize that trauma and fear have a holistic impact on us. For this reason therapy with me not only focuses on traditional cognitions, emotions, and behaviors, but also the body, relationships, and environments.

My work focuses on people experiencing situations similar to those mentioned above as well as other issues regarding anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD, neurodivergence, and trauma.
If you have stumbled upon my page, I imagine you might be feeling alone, overwhelmed, or even hopeless. Maybe you are tired of engaging in the same cycles over and over only to end up feeling worse and worse. It could be that you wish you had a different relationship to your body, food, or exercise. It is possible you have felt "different" than others and are considering if you might be neurodivergent. My approach with neurodivergence is through a neurodivergent affirming lens. Regardless of how you came across this page, I am happy you did. I am here to help. My aim is to create a safe environment for growth and exploration.

Take a deep breath. Finding the right therapist for yourself or your child can feel overwhelming. Maybe you or your child or teen is struggling with mood issues, social anxiety, aggressive behaviors, or school refusal. Perhaps there are sensory issues, trouble making and keeping friends, or behaviors causing you problems. Now, imagine you could wave a magic wand and wake up tomorrow to your ideal life. What would that look like? Perhaps you'd have more time to explore your own interests, feel happier, and be open to trying new things. Life isn’t always easy, but it doesn’t have to be this hard.

At The OCD & Anxiety Center, we are experienced in working with people of all ages whose anxiety has taken over their lives.
The idea of meeting with a therapist once every week is common, and this approach can be helpful for many. But for some individuals, symptoms are so severe that a higher "dose" of treatment is needed. We involve families, spouses, and other support people/systems. Our objective is to provide the skills that you need to face your fear and take back your life.

I utilize EMDR, IFS, polyvagal theory, ERP, psychodynamic, and narrative approaches to healing. I am non-pathologizing in my approach to treatment - I do not believe there is anything wrong with us, but that things have happened that have brought us the pain we carry. I work with adolescents and adults who may be struggling with anxiety, OCD, or trauma related to family or relationships.
Do you find yourself constantly on edge, anxious, overthinking, and exhausted from trying to keep it together? Maybe you’ve experienced trauma or difficult family dynamics that make it hard to feel comfortable in your body or trust others. You might appear “high-functioning” on the outside but feel defeated, overwhelmed, or unsure how to change the narratives keeping you stuck. You don’t have to figure it out alone. I work with teens and young adults navigating anxiety, trauma, and the pressure to “fix it.”

I am pretty traditional in my beliefs about the purpose of therapy, but not your traditional therapist.I do not sit with a notebook and write down everything you say with a hmm at the end before I collect my fee.I am interactive and even directive sometimes. I guess that's why I work well with teenagers:) So, if you want therapy to be fun, I'm your gal. My specialty area has been adolescents and addiction for over 30 years, but I see adults too (codependence, divorce, parent alienation) etc. I am also a past President of LPCA, and operate a new virtual business called ProjectEvolve.com. It is an alternative to social media for kids.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
