I've loved working with teens, young adults,
women
, moms, individuals and couples.
My perspective is that life is complicated and it's easy to get lost along the way as we face our own struggles like fear, insecurity, shame and worry. If we keep those struggles in the dark, they'll only take root and trip us up and make us start to forget truth. It's only by bringing those dark places into the light that those roots can vanish and we can see truth and grow in ways we could never imagine. It's my joy to partner with others through that process and remove the stigma in seeking help.

women
, families, and groups in working towards a more balanced and healthy life.
My focus in working with clients is to help foster personal awareness, to draw out inner strengths, and provide tools to cope with life's challenges. All of us have certain thoughts and behaviors that are unhealthy and at times can even be destructive or keep us stuck. My hope is that the therapeutic relationship creates a deeper, richer understanding and acceptance of the underlying issues in one's life.

I am passionate about working with
women
who seek to improve their self-esteem, explore their emotions, lessen their inner critic, and wish to better navigate phases of life such as schooling, career, and relationships.
Maybe you are overwhelmed, perhaps you are trying to navigate a romantic relationship or parenting, or maybe you are struggling to handle your emotions and don’t know what to do. Maybe you want to stop using substances and aren't sure what that looks like. Whatever the difficulty, as your therapist, its my pleasure to come alongside and help navigate difficult times that life brings. The decision to attend therapy takes tremendous courage and I strive to create an open place for you to share your vulnerabilities, work towards lasting change, and feel understood and validated.

and I want to help each young
woman
that comes into my office to become a productive, fulfilled and well rounded individual.
I am pretty traditional in my beliefs about the purpose of therapy, but not your traditional therapist.I do not sit with a notebook and write down everything you say with a hmm at the end before I collect my fee.I am interactive and even directive sometimes. I guess that's why I work well with teenagers:) So, if you want therapy to be fun, I'm your gal. My specialty area has been adolescents and addiction for over 30 years, but I see adults too (codependence, divorce, parent alienation) etc. I am also a past President of LPCA, and operate a new virtual business called ProjectEvolve.com. It is an alternative to social media for kids.

I believe that self-awareness is one of the core departure points for the alleviation of suffering, and that even the simplest of lifestyle changes can create immense improvements in the quality of one’s life. Establishing a safe and trusting relationship with a therapist, can relieve psychological and physical imbalances, as well as uncover the unhealthy habits, patterns, and behaviors that lead to symptoms of depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, and chronic pain. I specialize in providing holistic mental health, yoga/somatic therapy to
women
with mood disorders, stress related conditions, complex PTSD, and substance abuse.

I believe that difficulties, hurts and pains do not have to immobilize my clients but can serve to transform their lives into deeper meaning and fulfillment. My areas of interest lie with counseling adolescents, young adults,
women
, families, and couples who are facing a variety of issues including: relationship concerns, life transitions, personal and spiritual growth, grief/loss issues, depression and anxiety.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
