I believe therapy helps us understand the power of the mind. This is especially useful when we feel disconnected, marginalized, or stigmatized. When we feel this way, learning how the mind channels this information through thoughts, feelings, emotions, and perceptions, can influence us to recognize our own cognitive processes and how they impact our life. If we attend to our cognitive processes in a healthy way, it may lead to regulation of mood, clarity, balance and feelings of peace. We start to evolve and accept certain things about ourselves. We begin to feel at peace from within. I help my clients through this process.

Making the decision to reach out for counseling can be a scary step to take, but it is often times the first step towards a healthy and happy life. You could be struggeling with a broken
relationship
, life stressors, loss/grief, depression, anxiety, or perhaps you can't describe how you feel, but you know it's just not "right". As a counselor, my goal is to provide a safe and warm environment for you to share your story with me, to work together to set goals, and to set off on a path towards healing and wholeness.

Searching for the right therapist is not only difficult, it’s redundant. So let me make this easy for you. My own life experiences have led me to work passionately with young LGBTQ+ and straight adults experiencing life transitions issues, anxiety, depression, grief, or ADHD. I am known for my direct and honest communication style — all in the comfort of couch cushions. I work to create a safe space by first focusing on building trust within the therapeutic
relationship
all while building self care routines and mental wellness skills. I welcome humor, “real talk” and (appropriate) self-disclosure is my jam.

CBT involves examining the
relationship
between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and finding ways to disrupt patterns in our lives that bring us distress.
I work with children, teen, and adult clients on a variety of challenges, including behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, and more. As a young professional, I believe myself to be uniquely able to connect with the needs and culture of today's teens and young adults. I also consider myself an ally to all racial groups as well as the queer community. As a therapist with a commitment to lifelong learning, I know it is my responsibility to approach issues of diversity with humility, empathy, and openness.

I believe the key to successful therapy is trust within the therapeutic
relationship
.
So much of how we see ourselves and the world is based on the beliefs we hold closely, sometimes unknowingly. These beliefs are developed and emphasized over time, feeling more and more like solid truth. All too often, these beliefs are not only untrue, they are harmful to our mental health and perception of who we are and what we're worth. I am dedicated to walking with you as you come to identify, understand and work through those beliefs to move toward self-compassion and growth. I am passionate about helping you to grow in self-awareness surrounding your emotions, relationships and ability to make changes within yourself.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
