My ideal clients are high achieving women, empaths, and sensitive individuals navigating chronic stress, corporate burnout, or major life transitions. They come to my practice feeling physically depleted, emotionally reactive, and trapped in overwhelming cognitive loops that talk therapy alone hasn't resolved. I help them move forward by bridging the gap between behavior change science and somatic nervous system regulation. We implement actionable, daily self-regulation routines that stabilize the physiology, reverse fight or flight states, and build lasting resilience.

You are probably reaching out because you are concerned for yourself or a loved one, and I am here to help. I am currently only doing consulting via Zoom. I have over 30 years as a Psychotherapist with 15 of those years working in Psychiatric Hospitals and Treatment Centers. Perhaps you are not sure what you need and what kind of provider would be best and are considering going to treatment or trying to place a loved one in treatment. Whether it's mental health or substance use, I can point you in the right direction. In one hour we can sum up core issues to be worked on and then identify what kind of treatment/provider is best.

I'm a Black Muslim therapist who believes deeply in the power of honesty, connection, and compassion. As someone who values intersectionality and representation, I entered this field to hold space for people who often haven't seen themselves reflected in therapy. Your values, voice, and experience shape the work we do together.
I enjoy working with women, adolescents, and anyone unpacking the lingering impacts of childhood experiences. I also hold certification in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), and I bring that same level of grounded care to every session—whether we're discussing deep pain or quiet growth.

Alcohol Use Therapists
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
