Hello! The steps you’re taking to search for a therapist are important. Although it can be overwhelming, I encourage you to not give up. As for my services, I specialize in trauma-related issues that have caused ongoing problems for my clients. My clinical experience includes a range of childhood traumas to events experienced as an adult. Unresolved trauma masks itself in a variety of troubling ways. You may feel anxious, emotionally detached, or easily overwhelmed. You may even question whether or not what you've experienced is "trauma". My sessions are in-person although I do offer Telehealth sessions for occasional use as needed.

That voice telling you it’s time for a change is not always loud, but it is persistent! My name is Laura Walsh and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of experience helping people create a better life through personal and transformative change. Traditionally, I have maintained a focus on anxiety and mood disorders, relational and familial instability, self-esteem, and substance abuse issues. Through the years, I've found that many seeking help with these problems are actually dealing with the emotional fall out of unresolved trauma - leading to my focus and specialization in the successful resolution of PTSD.

At one point or another in your life, you may have told yourself, “I need therapy, or I need to talk to a therapist,” which is probably how you ended up here. The truth is that people seek therapy for various reasons: stress/anxiety, depression, PTSD, life transitions, career changes, emotion management, self-esteem, relationships, or general women or men issues. Regardless of the reason, one of the most important things is recognizing that you need help and seeking that assistance. It’s scary to notice when you’re struggling and even scarier to reach out for help.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, more than a quarter of American adults experience depression, anxiety, or another mental disorder in any given year. While others may need help with difficulties in coping with daily life; the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss, like the death of a loved one; and managing relationship troubles, job loss, stress, substance abuse, or other serious illnesses. For many individuals, these problems can often become debilitating.
