I offer individual, family,
adolescent
, children, premarital/marital counseling services in a comfortable, supportive environment.
No one said life was going to be easy. We go through challenging situations in life when you feel like the weight of the world is trying to overtake you. There's nothing wrong with seeking out additional support and assistance when these difficult times occur. Self-awareness is the key element one needs to possess in knowing when help is needed. Deciding to receive therapy shows that you are taking personal responsibility for your own well-being and thusly creating and gaining a better understanding of yourself, your goals, and your values.

Whether it is for an individual or a couple,
adolescent
to adult; I do my best to put clients at ease by being open and crafting a space that fosters a sense of relief focused on achieving their goals.
Today’s world moves fast, and as such it often requires us to move just as fast or get swept downstream. In these times we often doubt ourselves, our strengths, abilities, and our own innate power. Taking the first step for help when getting swept up is scary. Whether it is depression and anxiety, family and relationship issues, identity or existential issues, or even career conflicts, I am here to help my clients navigate.

Hello! My clients are looking for someone to show they care and that can reflect an understanding of their lived experience. I want to make sure that when a client comes to me for a service, they leave my care better off than when they started. While I'm comfortable working with clients of any age, my ideal clients are college-aged students dealing with life transitions and mental health challenges that occur during a pivotal time in development. I offer a client-centered space to help youth and young adults develop their own ideas, manage their emotions, and engage in healthy coping skills practice.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.” It is when we are faced with our greatest fears when we are in need of someone who we can trust to hear those fears and assist us with equipping ourselves with life skills/tools to overcome and conquer them. Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
