Sometimes, we find ourselves in life struggling with what we should do next and how to accomplish this. Often times, we can find ourselves in a dark place in which there seems to be no light at the end, possibly no hope of ever seeing light again. Some struggle with addiction, loss, and depression and are afraid to seek out help to manage the disease of addiction as well as loss. Often, we are afraid to reach out for help because we do not want to be embarrassed or judged by others. In the end, you want to be able to see the light and live a life free of the difficulty that you may have.

I am passionate about empowering people to make positive changes in their lives. I recognize that people have the ability to change, but often lack the confidence or direction to do so. I do not believe there is a one-size fits all approach to therapy and I strive to develop genuine connections so that therapeutic services are personalized to the needs of each client.

I have been in practice for a number of years, so my experiences are varied. I work with everyone.....children, adolescents and adults. I am knowlegeable and skillful in the treatment of emotional, behavioral and substance abuse issues. I am fortunate to have practiced with extremely knowledgeable and skillful clinicians as my mentors so my skills go beyond the textbooks. I treat my clients with courtesy and respect; as I expect my friends and family to be treated should they ever need professional assistance. I give 100% in assisting them in resolving their issues. If I can't help them, I'll help them find someone who can.

My ideal client is a high-achieving professional who’s outwardly successful but inwardly exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck. They’ve tried therapy, coaching, and self-help—but old patterns like procrastination, perfectionism, and burnout keep returning. They want peace of mind, emotional clarity, and a sustainable way to grow without self-sabotage. More than a quick fix, they seek deep change—something personalized, practical, and powerful. They’re ready to feel whole, not just functional.

Most people don’t come to therapy because life is easy—they come because something hurts. Trauma can leave deep imprints—on the body, the mind, and the way we move through the world. My clients often feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break, or disconnected from themselves and others. Some are navigating major transitions, healing from trauma, or trying to make sense of their relationships. Others simply want to feel better, live more authentically, and find clarity in the chaos.

I enjoy working with a wide range of client populations and the challenges faced by each. When asked "what kind of clients" I see in my practice, my answer is always the same, that "I see normal people with normal problems." My goal is to provide a safe, therapeutic environment where one can share their innermost struggles and challenges without feeling judged or criticized, since it is my philosophy that we are all transforming and evolving from each experience or trial that we face. It is also my passion to empower each client with education, confidence and self-awareness.

My ideal client is someone who is self-aware enough to recognize they are struggling but may not yet have the tools or confidence to make meaningful changes. They might present with issues like anxiety, unresolved trauma, low self-worth, or difficulty maintaining healthy relationships. Often, they are high-functioning on the outside but feel emotionally stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed internally.

Are you carrying the weight of grief, depression, or trauma? Do you feel as if you have to put on a mask just to get through the day? You continue to juggle the roles of being a parent, spouse, employee, and everything in between; which leaves you feeling stretched thin and emotionally drained. You often feel as if you need a release or a lifeline to maintain a peace of mind. If any of this applies to you, “guess what,” it’s okay to not be okay.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
