"Enter into children's play and you will find the place where their mind, hearts and souls meet." -Virginia Axline. A child-like wonder and desire for connection are the inspiration for my therapy approach with clients of all ages. I believe that humans, regardless of age, are playful by nature. For this reason I incorporate elements of play, music, expressive arts and movement into the therapy process. I engage families as a unit, using playfulness and artistic expression to enhance family bonds and attachments. Rarely do I work with a child entirely alone as I see the bond between parent and child as key to the healing process.

Perhaps you’ve come to a place in your life where you feel that life isn't working and are wrestling with the question what’s wrong or what’s wrong with me? Or maybe things are seemingly "fine" but you're really asking the question “is there more to life?” Alternatively, you've lost focus and purpose, feel discouraged and are in despair. You have goals and you're looking for a plan for your life, a life filled with purpose and meaning. You're wanting to be a better spouse, co-worker, parent, or friend.

I am a Christian therapist trained in many techniques, interventions, and approaches (i.e., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Humanistic); however, my focus is on working with my clients to meet their need for counseling. I believe counseling is the most effective way to gain insight into how our past is directing our present and future choices. We live in a world embraced intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships that have shaped and influenced our perception of ourselves and insightful counseling helps us ascertain what is important to us. I will work with clients, who prefer to incorporate their Christian beliefs into their counseling session.

I was initially trained in addiction counseling for adolescents, thus I'm more verbal than alot of therapists. I believe that most personal growth is done outside the session with homework assignments, active behavioral changes, and challenging irrational self-talk.

It’s truly incredible when a person sees that there’s something inside them that they want to work on, and then they go after that. It’s incredible that you’re here, that you’re searching. The people who want to be the best version of themselves, who want to break “generational traumas” and work on their mental health so that they can pass down health, wholeness, peace, and light to the next generation - those are the superheroes. Our mental health is our foundation for how we relate to ourselves and world around us after all - Our God, ourselves, and others.

I have helped people with a variety of struggles such as trauma, addiction, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, grief and much more. I believe in working with each person through non judgmental honest collaboration.

As a therapist, I am blessed to witness the power that individuals have to persevere - even thrive - in the face of life's most difficult problems. I know that every patient brings their own courage, strength and skills, though they may not recognize these aspects of themselves. As a Christian, I understand the power of grace, having experienced it in my own life. And, what I appreciate most about the therapeutic relationship is the opportunity to share grace with others while helping them move beyond the emotional, behavioral, or relational issues that keep them from having the life they desire.

Why bother telling anyone, they won't believe you or won't care. People would think it was your fault, after all, you did not say "no". There is no way that your physical health issues could be related to what happened to you, after all, it was so long ago and you don't even think about it anymore. It becomes easier to wear a mask then reveal the pain of what you cannot speak about. Being strong all the time becomes harder as the days, weeks, and months go by.
