I'm passionate about working with teens and adults, supporting clients facing various challenges, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, ADHD, and life transitions.
As an Associate Professional Counselor, I am privileged to walk alongside clients on their personal growth and healing journey. I have a compassionate heart and my ultimate hope is to help people find their way in this often times messy world. Choosing to seek counseling can be intimidating and scary, and it can also be courageous and brave. We all experience challenging and stressful times in life. As humans, we are made for connection and don’t have to do everything on our own. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for my clients to express their unique needs.

As a counselor I have nearly two decades experience dealing with the effects of ADHD, self-esteem issues and family conflicts, and specialize in coping skills dealing with the long-term effects of childhood trauma, blended homes, relationship conflicts and grief, in children, teenagers and adults.
Navigating the complicated parts of life is easier with support. Grief, trauma, relationship changes, self-esteem and stability, all the challenges that most people will face at some point in their life, don’t have to be dealt with alone.

The challenges of life can be overwhelming, with anxiety, depression, stress, anger, abuse, trauma, hurt relationships, wounds from childhood experiences…. The list of harms that we experience can feel endless. Relationship stress, with family and couple conflict is common. To counter this, communication, listening skills, and conflict resolution can be learned in therapy. Disagreements can become invitations to step into someone else’s shoes to gain their perspective, and for them to step into yours. Understanding and caring can deepen. The heart-changing gift of working through forgiveness and healing can lead to personal freedom.

Hello. Are you looking for a different way to approach therapy? I am an integrative therapist who incorporates mind/body techniques into a client-centered practice. I believe the mind/body system has the ability to heal, and sometimes needs support along the way. That support can be the thing that helps with transformation. It is the medicine, so to speak, and sometimes having a compassionate, non-judgmental human being sitting alongside you is the key to healing and moving forward in life.

Life can feel and be overwhelming to the point that some people may want to give up. At times, people tend to need help with direction in life and a listening ear on how to take the next steps can offer guidance. Couples don't believe their voice or feelings matter anymore.

We will all go through painful seasons in our lives. Having a safe, non-judgmental support person is vital during these times. I often compare my role as a therapist to being a midwife. We are all pregnant with possibility, but sometimes life is tough and messy, just like birthing babies. I can't do the deep breathing, pushing, and labor for you. However, I am here to roll up my sleeves and assist you while providing a safe, judgement-free space where you can give birth to your best life.

Finding a therapist that you connect well with is a daunting task. It is my goal to ensure that you feel supported and equipped to meet your counseling goals, whatever they may be. I typically partner with adults, children, and teens to assist them with anxiety, depression, behavioral needs, trauma, and solution-focused care. Care can range from empirically supported play therapy interventions for kids to experiential and awareness-building talk therapy for teens and adults. Ultimately, we will work together to find a treatment path that fits your unique needs and preferences.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
