With all my clients, I start by trying to create a completely safe, private, confidential, accepting, non-judgmental, valuing, understanding, and empowering relationship. I believe that these components alone can often be enough to bring the changes you seek to make in your life. Whatever you are struggling with, I strive to meet you where you are, understand your experience, and help you achieve your goals for change. I am primarily a cognitive behavioral therapist (CBT). The essence of CBT is that making changes to your thinking, perception, and behaviors in turn changes how you feel.

I enjoy working with couples and families but also with individuals who have relationship concerns, depression, addiction, anxiety, or want to focus on job clarification. Most couples will eventually work at communication and conflict resolution, but the emphasis varies from diversity of faith in the home to parenting, finances, managing with extended family, sex and intimacy, organization, and power. I also have experience in assisting couples in healing after and affair, grieving after a loss, and negotiating various challenges in parenting, whether young or late adolescent.

Life is hard, often times we feel like we have more than we can bare. That's where a helping hand and friendly face can be crucial and needed. I'd be honored to be that person. The story of our life is not defined by a the bad chapters. It is in the bad chapters that we grow the most. I would love to come along side of you and your loved ones to help you navigate these challenges and help you grow because that is when the best growth happens, outside our comfort zone. Challenges can be character building moments not reasons to stay a victim. I don't believe anyone enters my office by chance and I am honored to help.

I provide services to clients going through major life changes. Feelings of loss can control our lives and need to be processed to move forward. Losses are not always the traditional loss. They span across multiple domains of life such as marriage, a job, or loss of sense of purpose and meaning in life in life. Processing loss can be difficult, but my goal is to create a space where you are able to fully do so without fear or judgment.

Hi, I’m Cooper Morgan. I swapped baseball cleats for a calling to help people find strength and meaning through life’s toughest moments. I earned my master’s in clinical counseling at Brenau University with a focus on religion and spirituality in mental health, because I believe personal values can be powerful guides. My approach is existential humanistic, and at Plutonic I work with clients navigating anxiety, men’s issues, trauma, substance use, depression, and the big questions of identity and purpose.

Male Therapists
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
