I view my clients as fellow human beings in search of some type of change. For one reason or another, they feel stuck or unable to get where they want. Together we work towards growth by identifying the issues involved, establishing hopes and goals, and increasing awareness of recurring patterns that maintain dysfunction. I find that often these patterns were somehow adaptive, but are now "outdated" for life's current situation. My clients are struggling with personal trauma, sometimes stemming from their childhood, other times from traumatic events at other times in their life. This may include racism. They may be struggleing in their current relationships with spouses, parents or their children. Some are self-medicating with drugs or alcohol, others are challenged by crippling anxiety, panic or depression. Still other clients have mood swings, boutes of anger and diffculty regulating their emotions behavior or thinking.
