My clinical philosophy is to help individuals and families transform their lives for a greater tomorrow. However, in my practice I emphasize the importance of effective communication within systems and encourage clients to find the confidence to advocate for themselves assertively while respecting others. I believe each individual has both the capacity and the right to change and to grow.

Academic burnout: where your motivation is not just on vacation – it's taken an indefinite leave of absence. Maybe you are way past the point of even humor. Are you a student, doctor, lawyer or professor working in academia or the field who is just DONE? I specialize in helping academics, intellectuals, and high-net worth individuals get their spark back. I truly understand how demotivating the systems that you operate in can be, because I have lived them myself, and because I hear stories every day that most people wouldn’t even think about sharing with anybody. Or, maybe something in your personal life is dominating your focus.

Challenges with sexual desire, sexual pain (vaginismus), infidelity, or even enjoying sex again after having kids can be extremely difficulty to talk about with your spouse.
As a first-generation Jamaican-American therapist, I often work with couples where one or both spouses are immigrants, first-gen or second-gen. Most of my clients also have a faith background and want to understand how their faith shapes their physical and emotional intimacy.

In addition to private couples counseling, I also offer individual counseling and group counseling for infidelity.
Are you struggling to rebuild trust after an affair? If you are the one who strayed, you may be feeling overwhelming shame and a great fear that there is nothing you can do to save your marriage. If you have been betrayed, you may feel that everything you thought was true about your life and your history together is gone. You both may be wondering if there is hope. Maybe you have been working very hard to rebuild but find the pain and fear too overwhelming. Are you deeply worried about these things? If so, I'd like to help. It is important to know you are not alone. Most people who have been betrayed feel rage, have nightmares...

Relationship injuries: mistrust, infidelity, undisclosed debt, etc.
Relationships can be challenging when you don't feel felt by your partner. Sometimes you feel like you're in the twilight zone because the same argument just keeps happening. No matter how hard you try, you still feel the same: alone, unimportant, under appreciated or some other awful feeling. Many times your partner doesn't even know your pain; its just too much to say. My Advanced Emotionally Focused Couples therapy training will allow you space to take risks in a comfortable and supportive environment. I encourage an intimate connection that can withstand challenges. If you love him/her, you can tell him/her. All are welcome.

In your relationship, maybe YOU feel TIRED from trying to make this relationship better; UNHEARD and misunderstood; ALONE and LONELY in this relationship & not appreciated by your partner. Your partner may call you ‘NEEDY’, ‘negative’ or a ‘complainer’. Your PARTNER may feel they are walking on EGGSHELls & may seem COLD, non-caring, or shut-down. They feel that talking just leads to CONFLlCTS & that what they do is never 'good enough'. As a couple, you feel STUCK, TIRED, & don't know how to CONNECT. :(. I GET lT and I can help. Couples get stuck in cycles and just don't know HOW to do things differently, even if they want to.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
