I specialize in evidence-based treatments (EBTs) for patients with OCD and trauma related disorders. These treatments are generally more effective and efficient than traditional talk therapy because they directly target symptoms and provide specific exercises aimed at breaking behavioral patterns that maintain symptoms. Traditional psychotherapy emphasizes gaining insight. Insight does not necessarily lead to symptom reduction. I focus on changing behavior because only by changing what you do will you be able to change how you feel.

I'm a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of working with clients from preschool age through adulthood. Areas of specialization include obsessive -compulsive disorder, worry, perfectionism, irrational fears (phobias); body-focused repetitive behaviors, such as hair-pulling (trichotillomania), skin-picking (excoriation) and nail biting; attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder; and parenting.My approach to therapy is cognitive-behavioral; I work with clients to identify goals for therapy and help them acquire tools and skills to change behavior and patterns of thinking. I'm a member of the Georgia Psychological Association, the Obsessive -Compulsive Foundation and the Trichotillomania Learning Center.

I have been fortunate to have 18 years of counseling experience in both the school setting and the private sector, working with children ranging in ages 5-18, adults, and with families. While working with children and adolescents, I believe that the family dynamic is an extremely important part of the therapeutic process, and will often involve parents and siblings in therapy when it is helpful. I specialize in helping young adults overcome past traumas and life challenges. I have experience treating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, identity and gender issues using an integrative approach of evidence-based therapies and holistic practices.

I’m an LCSW with experience in psychiatric inpatient stabilization and outpatient programs. I work with teens through adults diagnosed with mood disorders, psychosis, Insomnia, executive functioning challenges and ASD. I am a certified clinical specialist in both anxiety and ASD. I am trained in CBT for Insomnia and have my Level I Certification for Tech Addiction and Digital Health through NIDHW. I use a combination of modalities including CBT, motivational interviewing and narrative therapy with clients. I educate clients and families on available community resources in addition to helping them build coping skills.
