I help individuals experiencing anxiety, depression,
relationship
concerns, life/role transitions, and trauma.
Are you tired of not living fully? I want to help you to create your life worth living. A long time ago you made decisions about yourself and the world. It is possible to re-decide outdated beliefs. After over 30 years as a therapist I have pulled together what I have found to be the most effective methods to create change. My approach is interactive, respectful and down-to-earth. When we meet, I will listen carefully, help you clarify your feelings and help you figure out what you can do to make your situation better. I will share with you any ideas, tools or skills I believe might help you get to where you want to be.

relationship
pattern and are cycling through the same conversations, I can help you reach each other in new ways. That's why the therapeutic
relationship
is so important.
I believe life is about relationships. Everything we do in life revolves around getting along with others. I have spent years in the corporate world helping people work well together. Now I want to continue this passion in a counseling setting. I have sat where I will ask you to sit. I don't believe I can be effective for you if I have not been a client too. I welcome everyone who wants to become more aware of why they do what they do. There are always reasons for unwanted behavior. I can help you unravel this puzzle. I can help with anxiety, depression, trauma, communication, marital and professional issues.

I prioritize the

At some point in our lives, we’ve had to deal with the pain and difficulty of losing our voice. Not our physical voice, but losing the capability to speak up for ourselves. Have you ever experienced losing the ability to speak up for yourself or your needs due to the fear of possible rejection? Or the fear that nothing will change? Have you ever lost yourself in the process of attempting to speak up for yourself? Do you want to find your voice again? Admitting some of these things is not easy. However, the honesty and courage it took to seek guidance tells me you’re willing to take responsibility to seek emotional and mental change.

Life can be hard at times. I get it. Navigating our interpersonal relationships can be difficult. Whether it is challenges in our romantic relationships, dealing with our children’s behavior concerns, or establishing healthy boundaries with our friends and family – It can be hard. Struggles in relationships can lead to depression or anxiety, self-doubt, or lack of confidence. We might know that we want change, but be unsure how to achieve that change.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
