My goal is to help you overcome anxiety, depression , and feelings of being overwhelmed by unlearning debilitating narratives that keep you physically, mentally and emotionally strained. My clients often describe themselves as over-achievers as they find themselves under the pressure of "doing it all", so much so that they disregard their humanity. They value other's opinions in order to gain and maintain a sense of self-worth. They may also find themselves desiring to be in control, driven by perfectionism and self-protection.

It's OK to not be Ok. Life can be challenging, and we all could use support from time to time to navigate those challenges. Whether you're experiencing grief, anxiety, depression , relationship issues, or feel overwhelmed, you deserve support. I work with teens, adults, and couples to help them face these challenges. I use a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach in helping clients navigate their concerns. My approach is intertwined with my belief that much of how we experience difficulty can be related to our past experiences and current circumstances. I always tailor my approach to suit the individual client.

I specialize in working with folx who experience circumstances surrounding anxiety, depression , empowerment, freedom of self, life’s adjustments and transitions, LGBTQ+ issues, marriage, mood changes, relationships, stress, and wellness.
Throughout life, we encounter experiences that help shape how we view the world around us, how we view others, and how we view ourselves. Some of these experiences are within our control (self-esteem, career choice, interpersonal relationships, etc), while others are not (microaggressions, social injustice, traumatic experiences, etc). Brevity of the Soul provides a safe space to get to the heart of the matter and unpack the impact that these experiences have on well-being, and explore effective ways to manage ongoing mental, emotional, social, and/or even professional wellness.

While my counseling style is eclectic, I utilize dialectical approaches to increase mindfulness and acceptance when coping with depression , anxiety and fear of loss.
"The past is for reference, not for residence". We will work together, briefly revisiting the past, to be better informed about your present. My therapeutic orientation is empowerment based, solution-focused and follows an ecological model of treatment, working with the person as a whole human being, not just its parts. This mindset fuels the therapeutic process. Within an atmosphere free of judgement, your intuitive process will be honored during our sessions.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
