I have been trained in multi-dimensional frameworks including psychodynamic theories and narrative therapy, while also receiving specialized training in trauma -informed care, including EMDR.
I have always loved to read a good story, I think stories can reflect wholeness in their beginnings, middles, and ends. It's all too often that we find ourselves in the middle of the story, feeling disconnected from ourselves and unsure if our story will ever have an ending that feels good and whole. I believe that counseling offers a space to "speak the unspeakable" parts of our stories and invite healing into the darkest places. As we create a safe and trusting relationship, I hope to come alongside you and look inward together with compassion and curiosity.

I work primarily with LGBTQ+ people who have experienced trauma and are looking to improve their lives. This might be wanting to feel less anxious or depressed, have healthier relationships, have a deeper knowledge of yourself, or something else. Trauma can look very different for different people, and in a White supremacist, heteronormative, and transphobic world, queer and gender diverse people often experience trauma in unique ways. I use a trauma -informed approach to help queer and trans clients navigate their mental health, identity development, and relationships.

Some people start counseling because they are hurting emotionally, feeling anxious or depressed, are grieving a significant loss, or have experienced trauma or abuse.
It takes a great deal of courage to seek counseling when you are struggling with depression, anxiety, or other challenges in your life. Taking the step to pursue counseling reveals your strength to recognize that you matter. You deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Your thoughts and feelings have value. Counseling can help you explore your emotions in a safe space, help you change unwanted behaviors or develop new, healthier ones, reduce distress, and increase happiness. Doing the hard work of therapy, through the supportive relationship with a therapist, can help you feel more like your self again.

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and use EMDR, mindfulness, Jungian therapy, and psycho-education to help people process trauma and manage anxiety and depression.
Do you sometimes find yourself operating from outdated beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you? Such patterns can hold us back and make life seem futile and meaningless, leaving us feeling drained and defeated. They may stem from traumatic experiences, life transitions, unexpected events, and setbacks. However, we can find new meaning and inspiration in life even after major setbacks or traumas. We can rekindle creativity and purpose through therapy. I help people update their belief systems and functioning so they can live and experience more adaptive and fuller versions of themselves.

I have specialized training in trauma , EMDR, life transitions, grief and loss, and anxiety work.
Life can be hard! Sometimes life deals us a set of circumstances that we aren’t sure how to navigate. Sometimes life is just confusing, and it can be hard to make sense of it all. You may find yourself asking questions like “how did I get here” and “how do I move forward”. There is where counseling could come in as a tool-- one of the biggest benefits of therapy is having a safe place to share how you are really doing and feeling.

I specialize in helping people recover from anxiety- and trauma -related disorders, such as OCD, PTSD , and panic, in addition to health concerns including chronic pain, insomnia, and reproductive health.
You want treatment that is going to do something - more than what a friend could offer, more than just a listening ear. Or maybe you know that things could be better but you just can't figure out how to make it happen. Whatever your reasons, you are ready to make a change. You need a psychologist who listens compassionately, understands the problem, and helps you enact change to relieve your distress, so that you can move forward with the rest of your life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
