I mainly work with couples on relationship issues who are experiencing crisis, whether infidelity or affair recovery, or wondering whether to get divorced or try to repair the relationship.
Your relationship doesn't feel "right" anymore. You’re disconnected, and it’s been so long since you’ve felt that way about each other. Maybe you're feeling misunderstood, hurt, and lonely. Maybe you’re struggling with something that recently happened--or that happened a long time ago--and your relationship never really recovered. Or it’s been a long, slow drifting apart. Whether you’re fighting all the time, or you never even talk anymore, you just keep falling back into the same dysfunctional pattern, and you just don't know how to change it. You’re ready to have a better relationship; it's time for some expert help!

I support mental and emotional barriers affecting sexual performance, sexual desire issues, infidelity, and survivors of sexual trauma.
I am committed to assisting individuals, families, and couples facing life challenges. Everyone's therapy needs and goals are unique to their specific situation; however, to illustrate a few examples, individual goals may include improving self-esteem, emotional regulation, and coping with anxiety, while couples may focus on communication, trust, and intimacy. Sex therapy may focus on increasing libido, exploration, overcoming sexual difficulties or addressing sexual trauma. In grief therapy, I provide compassionate support for expressing emotions and developing coping strategies. Together, we establish personalized objectives.

You love your baby, but you’re quietly wondering whether you're failing at motherhood. You didn’t expect to feel this overwhelmed or this alone. You hardly recognize yourself — the simplest tasks feel impossible, your emotions feel out of control, and you’re not sure how much longer you can keep pretending everything’s okay. You find yourself asking, "How is everyone else doing this?" If you're grieving the life you used to have or feeling disconnected from who you were before, you're not alone — I get it, and I can help.

Because children do not come with a handbook, parents are often wondering if they are parenting correctly. Sometimes your house and your relationships can feel strained due to the challenges of parenting. Parents can feel as if the child is in charge of the emotional barometer of the house. Most parents at some point experience feelings of being overwhelmed and not knowing how to be effective and supportive at the same time. Therapy is a way of taking those first steps toward making positive changes for yourself and your family. By making small changes, you will be able to enjoy a more fulfilling parenting experience.

If you are struggling with relationship concerns, self-concept issues, disordered eating, career development and transition experiences, and grief/loss concerns, I’d like to help. Whether these emerge as depression, anxiety, or behaving in some way that you want to change, I have 25+ years of experience helping clients navigate their challenges. My clients usually describe me as “more active” than other therapists (which they seem to like) and that I have a way of saying/asking things that offers a helpful perspective. I also explore how your identities, beliefs, and values can be part of your growth and healing.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
