My approach is experiential; my philosophy is feminist, transpersonal and humanistic.
With more than 40 years of experience, I believe that psychotherapy can provide a "safe container," a non-judgmental place, in which clients can confront their issues in complete confidentiality without fear of rejection. There is no blueprint for this process; together we create the path leading to each client's inner wisdom and healing.

I lean toward CBT, mindfulness, meditation, breath work, positive psychology tenets, energetic healing, guided imagery, hypnotherapy, transpersonal tenets (mental/physical/social/emotional/creative/spiritual/intellectual needs).
Starting therapy, or starting again with a new therapist, is a big step. Clients often call me when they are at a crossroads or when traditional talk-therapy has reached its limit. If you are struggling or overwhelmed, if you feel you're pushing a boulder up a mountain, I can help. You can reach the other side, happier and calmer, with a deeper sense of purpose, and a stronger sense of self. If you are spiritually and/or metaphysically based, I understand your unique perspective and the nuances involved. My frame of reference is deeply rooted in a belief in the importance of the synergy of a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

My approach is holistic--holding mind, body, emotions, and spirit equally--strength-based, and integrative, drawing together humanistic, psychodynamic, systems, and transpersonal approaches.
Whether you are facing life challenges such as relationship problems, addiction, work concerns, or health issues, you can move through with more elegance and ease. To me therapy is a gift--a gift of opportunity. An opportunity to heal from the past by increasing understanding of it and gleaning from it the gems that it holds. An opportunity to break long-held rigid patterns born of that past and to start consciously creating new, flexible ones. An opportunity to hold hope for a future free from the past that makes the present a time of freedom and choice.

Transpersonal Therapists

How does transpersonal therapy work?

Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?

Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?

Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?

There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
