For so many of us, we often get mired in the pieces of our daily schedule rather than getting to actually enjoy life on a day to day basis. The reasons we get caught up in the minutiae can vary from relationship woes, stress at work, or past trauma but they are all challenges I can help you with. I will work with you on the journey to helping you find peace and being free from the weight of the things that are holding you back from living your life to its fullest. Our therapy space is a safe place, where you can allow yourself to be open and express yourself however you need to in order to be understood without fear of judgement.

Why bother telling anyone, they won't believe you or won't care. People would think it was your fault, after all, you did not say "no". There is no way that your physical health issues could be related to what happened to you, after all, it was so long ago and you don't even think about it anymore. It becomes easier to wear a mask then reveal the pain of what you cannot speak about. Being strong all the time becomes harder as the days, weeks, and months go by.

As a Christian, my faith offers a strong compass for all I do. As a clinical psychologist, school psychologist, and veteran with 6 degrees in psychology and 27 years of experience (20 with Gwinnett County Public Schools), this compass has been pivotal in helping others. I specialize in two areas: (1) Psychological or "psycho-educational" evaluations to enhance success in school, college, or career path; and (2) A highly specialized therapy-based martial arts program for children that decades of closely supervised research have found effective for improving attention, self-control, and classroom performance (see "Groups" below).

As a therapist, I'm eager to walk alongside highly motivated individuals and couples in their journey towards success. For some, success means gaining an improved sense of self-esteem and value. Others may be looking to successfully navigate a challenging season of life. Over the last 22 years, it has been a joy to supportively listen to men, women and adolescents, offer meaningful insight, and enjoy the satisfaction of my clients meeting their goals for therapy. It would be my joy to help you in this way as well.

Have you battled numerous life challenges as a first-generation immigrant, and find yourself grappling with escalating levels of depression and anxiety? Maybe you are a high functioning corporate executive, struck by a mid-life crisis that has left you feeling lost and questioning your life's purpose. Many things have changed in our world, and in my experience, there is a need for mental health treatment, perhaps, more than ever. Many people both children and adults describe experiencing the Covid time period as involving emotional hardship, social isolation, and for some, crisis of identity. In addition to the hardships of this period, at present there appears to be a continuation of various hardships, and a shortage of providers and resources for people seeking emotional support. My goal in working with all clients is to be a “keeper of hope.” I am passionate about helping people overcome challenges and improve self-worth.

I am honored to walk alongside my clients on their journey, providing guidance, support, encouragement, and a strong knowledge of evidenced-based therapeutic interventions and skills to aid in growth and healing. I believe in using the personal strengths each client brings into therapy rather than focusing on pathology and diagnosis. Thus, I use a person-centered, trauma-informed, eclectic style in order to tailor my interventions to best fit the needs and goals of each individual client.

If you’re visiting this page, you are already considering self-care! It is my passion to walk alongside people as they navigate the inner battles that may result in preventing a happy and fulfilling life. By utilizing empirically based techniques or simply talking it out, people can adapt and utilize their strengths to overcome many of these obstacles. My greatest reward as a therapist has been helping individuals gain self-awareness and self-confidence to make changes and overcome life's challenges. I believe we can all benefit from having someone to talk to, who listens, without judgment. Taking the initial step to engage in therapy can be difficult. I attempt to provide a laid back and safe environment for clients to begin addressing issues preventing them from living the life they deserve. I pride myself on establishing rapport with my clients, at the onset of sessions, with a strong, collaborative, and therapeutic relationship, based on honesty and trust, to reach identified goals.

How can I find a therapist in Dacula?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
