” We have to sit with those uncomfortable parts of ourselves—our anxiety, depression, disordered eating, grief —and figure out when and why it showed up.
Life can get overwhelming sometimes, and everyone has an opinion on how you should manage it. No matter what you’re dealing with, someone always suggests a quick fix— anxiety: “just calm down;” depression: “just be happy;” or disordered eating: “just eat.” The reality is, if it were that simple, we would all be perfect people and never struggle with anything in our entire lives. That’s just not human nature. So if that’s not the answer, how do we grow and change? How do we resolve the deepest, most wounded parts of ourselves?

Have you noticed your adolescent/ teen’s loss of joy? Have you noticed their routine seeming a bit more daunting? Do you notice your child tends to have a hard time connecting with others, including family? Have you observed a difficulty in managing emotions? Lastly, have you noticed your child/teen feeling pressured to perform, particularly in athletics? Society tends to have an opinion of how you should handle these observations. It suggests an ineffective “quick fix” – “Stop crying. Just do it. Pull yourself back together. Stop being sad.” As you might have noticed, it is not that simple. So, how does it become less invasive?

Grief Therapists
Grief and Bereavement is the acute pain that accompanies loss. Because it is a reflection of what we love, it can feel all-encompassing. Grief is not limited to the loss of people, but when it follows the loss of a loved one, it may be compounded by feelings of guilt and confusion, especially if the relationship was a difficult one.
