My practice is fairly evenly divided across individuals, couples and corporations. I address issues ranging from anxiety, depression , marital/relationship, parenting/family concerns to life transitions and executive/organizational development. I received my doctorate in 1986 and went on to serve as president of the Georgia Psychological Association from 1999-2000. I rely on a blend of cognitive behavioral and family systems therapy to help clients develop a practical, common sense path to change. The central premise is that in order to change your life, you must first understand how it used to work and why it doesn't anymore.

Are you or do you know someone who is suffering from problems such as depression , anxiety, anger or addiction? Many of us at times find ourselves or our loved ones trapped and having difficulty finding a way out of the problems life brings. Through the suffering and the pain we are tempted to give up in despair, unable to see a way through the confusion and hopelessness. As a Christian counselor I seek to minister to the mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the individual, couple or families who may be struggling with various problems.

I am "strength based" in my practice, assisting clients in overcoming life's hurdles (such as depression , anxiety, life transitions, and relationship struggles) by assisting my clients in identifying his / her / their talents, strengths, life purpose and potential.
As a therapist, I enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing life transitions (young adulthood, changes in relationship status) and utilize an integrated approach valuing the unification of body, mind and spirit. I enjoy working from a foundation of connection, with a focus on the healing properties of the therapeutic relationship. I am trained in Brainspotting and also use relaxation / visualization exercises to assist my clients in experiencing grounding during our sessions. My goal is to partner with my clients to assist them in working toward creating a meaningful life.

In addition, my experience lies in working with individuals & families with anxiety & depression , as well as mood and personality disorders.
In my office you can expect to be seen as the expert of your story, you have lived every moment of your life and I am here to listen to you. Sessions are client centered and revolve around what comes to your mind each week. My role is to teach you about how we develop as humans, becoming the one we are now, and just how your life experiences influence this. I will teach you how to care for both your self – mind, body, and soul – and your relationships. As you learn how you became who you are today and explore the experiences that led you here, my hope is that you will be able to accept all parts of yourself fully.

I also works with those experiencing anxiety, depression , or a need to heal from trauma.
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, I have a deep love for and understanding of Latin culture. After working in the corporate world as an accountant, I realized that my true passion was working with families. I became an Immersion Spanish teacher and subsequently the director of an Immersion Spanish preschool. I discovered how fulfilled I felt after working with parents and helping them with all of the beautiful challenges of parenting. I then pursued a degree in and graduated with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Depression , anxiety, and fear; they can be overwhelming and leave us feeling stuck! Therapy is about understanding, healing, and creating. Each one of us has a story. It’s about where we’ve been and what happened to us. It holds the reasons for our depression , anxiety, and fear. When we understand who we are, and what we need, we can learn to create the life we want. Creation comes from building on strengths and discovering new possibilities. It comes from living intentionally, and well. It brings peace, connection, and an authentic life.

Change in relationships, work, and health are primary reasons that people seek therapy. I would like to understand your goals and needs as well as the unique experiences that have led you to this point in your life. With 25 years of experience, I work from a number of different frameworks, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, exposure therapy, emdr, and skill development. I value a collaborative approach in which we work together to discuss a plan to achieve agreed upon goals and what will be most effective in reaching the goals that led you to seek therapy. A primary focus is anxiety, depression , PTSD, and parenting.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
