Change in relationships, work, and health are primary reasons that people seek therapy. I would like to understand your goals and needs as well as the unique experiences that have led you to this point in your life. With 25 years of experience, I work from a number of different frameworks, including psychodynamic, cognitive -behavioral, exposure therapy, emdr, and skill development. I value a collaborative approach in which we work together to discuss a plan to achieve agreed upon goals and what will be most effective in reaching the goals that led you to seek therapy. A primary focus is anxiety, depression, PTSD, and parenting.

Ways of helping include cognitive behavioral therapy, dealing with thoughts and feelings and sometimes much deeper therapy to work through extensive problems.
Almost everyone needs a counselor at sometime during their life. Some are overwhelmed and facing a crisis. Some need information to better understand and work through a problem. Others need help to change behaviors, work on relationships or simply cope with stress. I would love to help. Anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD, obsessions, grief, anger, relationships, marriage, parenting, adjusting to life situations and dealing with events from the past are some areas where I have extensive training and experience. For marriage and marriage preparation, I often help with communication, personality differences and conflict resolution.

Since 1998 my cognitive -behavioral therapy approach has benefited a variety of client issues such as depression, anxiety, substance disorders, anger disorders, and couples work.
Are you or do you know someone who is suffering from problems such as depression, anxiety, anger or addiction? Many of us at times find ourselves or our loved ones trapped and having difficulty finding a way out of the problems life brings. Through the suffering and the pain we are tempted to give up in despair, unable to see a way through the confusion and hopelessness. As a Christian counselor I seek to minister to the mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the individual, couple or families who may be struggling with various problems.

I work with individuals and families that struggle to connect in traditional therapy settings and who may have had challenging or problematic experiences with therapy in the past. I have a, "How can we do it different this time?" approach. I believe it is important to support clients in driving their own treatment through self-determination. I often use cognitive behavioral ( CBT ), solution focused, reality, person-centered, and experiential approaches to therapy. I look at each person from a "strengths perspective", how an individual relates to the environment around them and how they interact within their family system.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists
Cognitive-behavioral therapy stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings. The therapist assists the client in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting dysfunctional beliefs underlying his or her thinking. The therapist then helps the client modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them. CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client and often calls for homework assignments.
