I'm grateful to have been working with clients toward healing, growth and connection since 2003. It's exciting to be a part of that journey and I admire the courage and commitment that it takes to make change happen. My approach to therapy is to help people identify their goals and the path they'd like to take towards meeting them. I see the therapist role as an active one, providing an honest and direct perspective while honoring each person as their own best expert on themselves and their lives. I see therapists and clients as partners in recovery.

My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for you to meet life's challenges. How we reach out for resources during this time can facilitate hope and healing. When people seek therapy, they are often uncertain, hurt, exhausted, and feel defeated. Each person possesses the strengths necessary to overcome any problem, but sometimes need some help learning how to use and recognize them. If you've ever found yourself with the need to numb your life or emotions, I welcome you to consider a change through judgement-free and supportive attachment-based therapy. My passion is helping people impacted by addiction, substance use, porn misuse, low self-esteem, or trauma rebuild their lives. I also offer clinical supervision to associate-licensed social workers.

Do you suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, worry and fears? Do you have thoughts that feel intrusive and bother you a great deal? Do you sometimes feel compelled to behave in ways that you don’t understand? If this is you, you may have one of many, very common anxiety disorders that are highly treatable. With the right treatment, you can recover and live your life without being overwhelmed with worry and fear. I consider myself a coach as much as a therapist. My goal is to teach you the skills you need to be your own therapist. You can expect active and lively therapy sessions with a good deal of humor thrown in.

Change is unavoidable. Sometimes, we're ready; sometimes, we're blindsided. Whether you're starting a new chapter, letting go of an old one, or figuring out who you are in the in-between, I believe change can be an opportunity for growth and renewal. I work with individuals going through all kinds of transitions: relationships shifting, careers changing, identities evolving, families growing or restructuring, grief, loss, and personal reinvention. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you already have a lot of what you need inside. You might just need a space to think and feel without judgment.

My ideal client is someone who’s been holding it all together for everyone else but feels lost in their own story. They want clarity. They want calm. They want to feel again—not just go through the motions. Maybe they’re ready to set boundaries, heal childhood wounds, explore who they are beyond expectations, or simply find space where their pain can breathe without judgment. They’re not looking for a magic fix—they’re looking for something real: a therapeutic space where they feel seen, heard, and safe enough to do the work.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
