Somatic Therapists in Carroll County, GA

I use a variety of evidence-based techniques, including Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Everyone deserves to live a fulfilling life. Asking for help is a mark of stepping into your own power and shows a desire to heal.
I help clients who have been impacted by trauma reclaim their sense of self, establish peace in their bodies and minds, validate their own feelings and needs, and process their guilt and shame. I walk beside my clients as they form a new relationship with themselves, find compassion for themselves, advocate for their right to have feelings and needs, and express themselves in kind and honest ways. I value my clients showing up authentically so that I may hold space for all their experiences.

In addition to traditional 60-minute sessions, I specialize in therapy intensives—focused 3-5 hour sessions over 1-3 days—to help you cut through the noise and get to the root of what’s keeping you stuck.

My ideal client feels stuck, overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or past trauma. They’re navigating major life transitions, struggling with relationships, or dealing with the emotional weight of perimenopause or menopause. They crave stability, self-understanding, and relief from intrusive thoughts or emotional pain. They want a therapist who truly listens—someone direct yet compassionate. Their goal is to heal, break unhealthy patterns, and gain the confidence to move forward. Most of all, they want to feel whole, empowered, and no longer defined by their struggles.

I am only working online virtually with the app Zoom (HIPPA security), available for cell/tablets, it can be accessed directly on your PC. If you send you your email I’ll send you an activation link. I work with anyone that wants to create change in their life! Anyone that is choosing to move on to a more fulfilling life, it doesn’t matter where that motivation comes from! It could be from deep inside them or someone else helping them to see the need. I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy and hypnotherapy as primary tools for trauma, PTSD, and adverse childhood events (ACE).

My clinical focus is bodily, emotional recovery from trauma, childhood experience, loss, grief, depression and anxiety. I believe in the possibilities for my clients to discover a second life-of joy, purpose, & renewal they couldn’t imagine at the depths of despair-struggle-change. "Maybe we will find a new purpose. Dedicate to an old dream. Maybe we will soften. Meet God. Taste the vast reservoir of our resiliency and strength. Find beauty and meaning in the simple things—like a cup of tea with a loved one while watching a yellow-tinged leaf dance into a puddle. Maybe we will find dancing or painting or writing or art or science

Health is "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." To link behavioral risk factors to outcomes so that early interventions can begin, we (Populations and Interventions Teams Company, PITC) address correlated conditions. We strive to make client experiences less complicated but complete, considering the lack of transportation in our rural areas, using evidence-based public health practices and behavioral health practice modalities. We collaborate to achieve treatment goals that would result in improved health outcomes.

I often utilize somatic, polyvagal, and DBT as well as integrate energy psychology, Access Bars, mind body connection, aromatherapy, etc.
I acknowledge and respect the effort it takes to reach out for help. The strength it takes to say "enough!, I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired". The courage it takes to choose towards something more, something better, than where you are at right now. Thank you for being here! What if every wrongness was a strength not yet acknowledged? You are stronger than you think and worth so much more than you can imagine. The fact that you are reading this right now is proof of that!

I incorporate somatic practices, parts work (IFS), brainspotting, and equine therapy in my approach.
Have you read all the self-help books? You "know what to do," but it still doesn’t seem to make a difference?
I understand what it’s like to know the answers intellectually and still feel stuck.
I work with clients who have coped by using food to manage emotions, tying their self-worth to productivity, and relying on other adaptive strategies that ultimately leave them feeling lost.

I help women of color women unlearn survival mode and build nervous system safety through trauma-informed, somatic, and narrative work.
She’s the strong one, always has been. The cycle-breaker, the overachiever, the one everyone leans on. But inside? She’s tired. Tired of performing safety, tired of shrinking to survive. She wants to heal, not just cope. She craves rest, regulation, and real connection without over-explaining her culture, identity, or pain. She wants to feel like herself again, not just functional, but free.

I operate from an emotionally-focused, trauma-informed approach and enjoy incorporating somatic work and Polyvagal Theory.
I believe therapy is holistic work where we learn to recognize the strength that lies within ourselves as we retell our stories. I am eager to walk beside those in the trenches and give them a safe space to process the things that may feel too heavy to hold alone. I bring a collaborative approach to therapy in a non-judgmental environment where clients are empowered to be their whole selves and move toward healing and growth. I believe the reason people begin counseling can point toward a deeper story that we can explore and work through together.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
