I have been in the mental health field for over 25 years and a licensed professional counselor for 9 years. I believe a person has the answers to whatever it is that concerns them about themselves, but they may not have identified the question. Once the question or the why has been identified a person begins adapting to resolve it. I use tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness exercises to assist my clients in living an intentional life.

No two people are the same- not even two therapy sessions, with the same person, are the same. So, describing what therapy is like with me on a web site is a little like describing what "all rivers" look like. What I can say is I will prioritize that you are heard, valued, and encouraged, and I will collaborate with you on what works best for you-whether that's finding strategies to cope with something current or finally addressing a concern that has developed over time. I will also met you with integrity and offer you the best of who I am and what the field of psychology has to offer.

I believe in the power of stories to inspire and to promote growth and healing. I embrace a wellness model employing the DIR Floortime framework using play (following a person's lead and need) and semi-structured cooperative and collaborative games, to give people the opportunity to see themselves as not just the authors, but the heroes of their own stories, shifting the focus from pathology to potential.

What is being adopted like for you? It's unique to each person and there are also commonalities, such as growing up fantasizing about your biological family or having others assume that because you are adopted, you had a great childhood. The reality is that being relinquished is a loss. The impact of adoption is often unacknowledged by family, therapists, and society at large. Now – as an adult – therapy offers a place to unpack your experience of adoption in connection with your past; great or otherwise. With more insight and clarity, your present life and relationships can become more rewarding and meaningful.

I work with teens and young adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, depression, self-esteem challenges, and big life transitions.
I bring a mix of evidence-based tools (like CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy) and plenty of real-world perspective to help you make sense of what’s going on, build confidence, and create changes that actually stick. Sometimes that means breaking down big problems into smaller, doable steps; sometimes it’s about finding new ways to see yourself & your future.

While I work with ALL relationships, I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ couples, offering an informed, collaborative space to unpack what’s not working and to develop practical tools you can begin using right away to reconnect. If your relationship feels like a rollercoaster, connected one moment, then distant the next, you’re not alone. Many couples start with love and good intentions, but get stuck in patterns that leave them feeling unheard and overwhelmed.

Welcome! I'm glad you found your way here. Reaching out can be difficult. Littered with anxiety or self-doubt. I've been there. Along the way, I've experienced how essential it is to talk with someone who will listen deeply, respond compassionately, and support journeys of healing in creative and thoughtful ways. Whether you're facing a point of challenge, a period of crisis, or a chronic issue, I welcome the opportunity to bring my experience and training alongside your experience, values, and goals. Together, we can make something decent of this strange, messy, and perhaps even beautiful world.

I specialize in guiding adolescents, young adults, and women through the intricate process of healing their relationship with both their minds and bodies. Central to my approach is the belief that our early childhood experiences shape the “template” through which we experience life and relationships. I blend together client-centered therapy, attachment theory, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, all viewed through a trauma-informed lens. I advocate for a holistic healing journey that addresses the mind, body, and spirit, and find incorporating somatic interventions profoundly healing for the nervous system.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
