I provide education and support for experiences with infidelity, sexual desire, sexual dysfunction, anxiety, depression, military to civilian transition, communication, and exploring sexuality & gender.
Society creates narratives about who we need to be and what we should have accomplished. Sometimes trying to reach these uncompromising standards causes us to doubt who we are, experience anxiety, stress, and sadness. My clients would describe my therapeutic style as non-judgmental, warm, and encouraging. I have achieved this by creating a supportive therapeutic relationship with individuals, couples, and families - “traditional” and nontraditional. Together, we can explore life transitions, relationships, sexuality, and mental and emotional subjects.

I specialize in individual therapy and have worked with diverse groups including active duty military , veterans , individuals battling addiction, faith communities, the LGBTQIA+ community, adolescents, older adults and people living with HIV/AIDS.
As a therapist, I seek to provide the kind of mental health services that I would want available to my father, my brother and even myself. As a Black man, I understand the unique experiences of Black men in America and the ways in which these experiences contribute to mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and stress. I also recognize that Black men are diverse and are not a monolith. With this in mind, I believe that Black men deserve care that understands both the uniqueness and diversity of Black men’s experiences, while also having a cultural awareness of the mental health needs of Black men.

My upbringing within the military community also affords me the opportunity to work with dependents of those who are deployed.
Therapy is a judgement free zone where you can be free to express and explore yourself. Knowledge allows us to grow from within. You are the expert of YOU! I want to help you feel more content with who you are and be prepared to tackle all of the obstacles life has in store for you. I believe in the power of listening and understanding things from different points of view. I also believe that the relationship between the client and the therapist is vital to the success of healing and the overall treatment plan. I believe in open and continuous communication. I am a cheerleader, a mentor, a coach and an educator.

Navy, my Military and Veteran brothers, sisters and their families are a population that is very dear to me.
I firmly believe in the ability of each individual to overcome and adapt to challenges and change that life brings, be it good or bad. Having the courage to reach out and ask for help is a strength that most people do not discover within themselves until they have nowhere else to turn. The decision to ask for help can be one of the most difficult and humbling experiences one can have, it is also the most rewarding.I am dedicated to helping my clients discover the peace they seek by providing consistent and quality care.I am dedicated to helping my clients discover the peace they seek by providing consistent and quality care.

Each of our distinct life experiences has shaped how we view ourselves and the world around us. My approach to therapy emphasizes the importance of examining your lived experiences and worldview because therapy is not one-size-fits-all. My specialty populations include activists and change makers, college students, sex workers, and military families, with a particular interest in working with marginalized genders and people of color. I have also received training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (levels 1 & 2) and thoroughly enjoy working with couples to strengthen the foundation of their union and enhance connections.

My clients include : therapists, all genders, LGBTQ+, veterans , African Americans, and diverse races/ethnicities.
Trauma and pain from past and present experiences can stop your life in its tracks, leaving you stuck in the same patterns, of thinking, feeling and behaving that eventually lead to building a life that is less than what you've hoped for. But with a little help, you can pause, learn tools, gain insights and figure out where and how to change your life's direction. You are not responsible for everything that has happened to you AND you are responsible for making meaning from the life you are living. How you do this depends on whom you believe yourself to be. Our work will help you to heal YOU.

I am a veteran of the United States Navy and completed a clinical psychology residency within the Division of Adult Mental Health at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Maya Angelou once wrote, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” This perspective is at the core of the therapeutic process, and central to the work I do with my clients. Together, we work to better understand the challenges faced in their unique, personal journeys, and in so doing, facilitate healing and growth. I am a licensed psychologist with extensive experience in addressing such concerns as depression, anxiety, childhood and adult trauma exposure, PTSD, impaired self-worth and relationship challenges. I also provide distance psychotherapy by both video and phone.

How can I find a therapist in Atlanta?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
