In psychotherapy and testing, I pride myself in taking a strengths-based approach; I believe that we all have undiscovered strengths that can be useful during challenging times.
Now is the time to take up space. As your therapist, I welcome you to be all of who you are, while helping you explore all that you can be. You may be wondering if you are capable of taking this step, and the answer is YES! Sometimes we need additional support to reach our potential and navigate change, and it is my honor to be a helping hand in your life.

I strive to build an authentic connection with my patients and do so by taking a "human-first" approach in my interactions. I am engaged and active in therapy, easily-accessible to answer questions and encourage communication outside of sessions via e-mail. My goal is to take the knowledge I have as a doctor and apply it in a meaningful and friendly manner; this is accomplished through a comprehensive care model, with ongoing research, communication, and individually-tailored interventions.

As a professional counselor I value the uniqness of each person and in the strength and creativity of the human spirit. Within the counseling relationship is a safe place to define areas for growth, vent feelings, explore the many possibilities, find encouragement and move toward peacefulness. My approach to counseling is gentle and encouraging, although I can be direct when it is helpful. I will support without judging and am respectful of individual and/or cultural differences. My approach draws on a number of theoretical orientations that best suit the group or individual needs.

Something feels off. Your mind won’t slow down, sleep is inconsistent, and stress feels constant. It’s hard to focus, relax, or feel like yourself. You may notice changes in appetite, motivation, or energy, and you might be coping in ways you want to stop like smoking or other habits that no longer serve you. For athletes, performers, and professionals, stress can also show up as declining performance when you know you're capable of more. You don’t have to figure this out alone. I work with adults, teens, athletes, and professionals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, emotional overwhelm, and habits they want to change.

Aiming to thrive and not solely survive? Despite our adverse experiences or current circumstances, we can find ourselves wanting to find more meaning in life. I help clients slow down to closely examine the obstacles that are interfering with their ability to live the life they envision. My approach to counseling is to learn to love yourself as you are while working on your areas of growth. We are all worthy of self-love and self-compassion, but all too often this is absent in our lives. My hope is that through this process you find your true self and are courageous enough to embrace and live out your most authentic life!

Have you been curious about taking this step? Hesitant or uncertain? I understand. It took me 30 years to begin therapy. Growing up in a household where mental health was a second thought, I learned to carry my struggles quietly—but eventually, it became too heavy. If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. I work with adults and adolescents who’ve spent years being the strong one, the caretaker, or the achiever—often at the cost of their own wellbeing. My clients are often navigating grief, depression, self-doubt, burnout, identity or sexuality questions, or simply feeling lost in who they are and what they want next.

I believe that each client has unique concerns and issues that should be focused upon one at a time. My role is to help you explore your concerns/issues and build new realities based upon your strengths. I view counseling as a collaborative process whereby the achievement of mutually defined counseling goals is accomplished through commitment and practice. Counseling can help you gain personal insight and lead you to better understanding of yourself and others. As with any intervention, there are both benefits and risk, as often progress is gradual. Your active involvement is essential to gain maximum benefits from your sessions.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
