Born from my own life is a connection I feel with caregivers and loved ones of individuals with psychotic disorders; and those who are living with a severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, depression, and bipolar disorder themselves.
I view each person as a unique individual made up of many parts due to their past and present experiences, that work together to make them who they are today. My approach is trauma-informed, multiculturally informed, and LGBTQ+ inclusive. I draw from Adlerian and Gestalt therapy where the relationship between client and therapist is the core of counseling.

My practice primarily focuses on helping people who struggle in relationships. I use attachment theory to identify the type of dysfunction/trauma you adapted to early in life. These adaptations often create dysfunction or dissatisfaction in your relationships as an adult. We focus on how you attach to partners, peers, work, and yourself in ways that reflect your past and work on changing them in the present.

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have provided individual and family therapy for over 12years. Taking the first step toward therapy is an act of courage and I commend you for being here. Life can feel overwhelming, especially when we’re just trying to meet our basic needs while navigating stress, anxiety, or emotional pain. I understand how difficult it can be to find balance and prioritize your mental health, especially when each day can feel so different. Some days are filled with hope, while others feel nearly impossible.

Despite what your brain is telling you, you don’t have to be perfect all the time. Freedom from anxious thoughts is possible. From the outside it probably looks like you’re “keeping it all together,” but inside you are struggling with intense shame, self-judgement, and sadness. You describe yourself as “Type-A” in a joking way, but the reality is your constant need to be productive, busy, and organized causes you daily suffering. The good news is that you don't have to stay stuck where you are forever.

Psychosis Therapists

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?

The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?

People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?

Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?

It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
