My practice focus includes adults (18+) struggling with anxiety, depression, loss, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, life transitions, disordered eating, relationship issues, and a desire to develop more effective ways to cope. Life comes with many unanticipated challenges that can leave us feeling stuck, resulting in feelings of anxiety, depression, shame, guilt and overwhelm. Without effective coping skills, this can lead us to deal with stress in ways that only lead to more stress. I fully understand these challenges, and you are not alone. We can work together to help you feel like yourself again.

As an experienced perinatal , motherhood and trauma therapist, I will support you in bringing ease and joy to your experience.
You've heard that motherhood is supposed to be a happy and natural transition, but it doesn't feel that way. You have thoughts about how a good mom wouldn't feel mad or sad like this. You're going through the motions, but don't feel connected. You feel overwhelmed and anxious and sometimes ragey. You don't get why this is harder than you thought it would be. You wonder if and when it gets easier. You deserve relief. You want to figure out what you need. You want to feel happy. You're ready to find your sense of self again, to find ease and make motherhood your own. I can help you get there.

I offer both group and individual therapy for people on a fertility journey, including experiencing infertility, undergoing IUI/IVF, as well as experiencing intended parenthood, pregnancy , the "fourth trimester,” and parenting after infertility.
For over 35 years, as both a fertility psychologist and OB/GYN with a strong interest in infertility, I have loved helping people on their fertility journey. Are you on a fertility journey? Have you experienced obstacles along the way? Perhaps nothing is as disempowering as struggling with fertility. For many of us, issues with fertility mark the first time that we've wanted our bodies to do something that they seem not capable of doing. Challenges with fertility are traumatic experiences. Is it any wonder why we may be struggling?

I come alongside adolescents and women by fostering a safe space to explore, manage, and face daily and long-term challenges with curiosity, gentleness, and flexibility. I work with clients on a wide range of issues, but my main focus is working with women who are prenatal , postpartum or have experienced infant loss. As someone who has experienced the overwhelming pain and confusion of miscarriage , I understand what it feels like to be faced with seemingly insurmountable loss. This experience drives my passion to help women in similar situations navigate their grief, honor their baby, and find hope when it feels that there is none.

I have 14 years of counseling experience and have done extensive post graduate training in marriage and family therapy as well as in perinatal mental health.
Life can be hard. Sometimes we have difficulty communicating with our boss or loved ones. Sometimes we have difficulty adjusting to new circumstances. At times, we may feel stuck and unsure of how to initiate change. Other times we may want to delve deeper and truly understand our motivations and desires. Sometimes we just want to feel heard. I strive to create a space safe where my clients feel comfortable sharing. I actively engage in conversation with my clients, meet them where they are and work collaboratively with them to bridge the gap between their current state of being and living their most fulfilled lives.

I am certified to treat Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders and have received extensive training in the field of cancer wellness.
At each stage, we face different challenges that can be tough to move throughout. I specialize in treating adult individuals during transitions and adjustments through life. Being an adolescent is tough, but what about that decade or a few after? Emerging adults at the crossroads of life, love, and career. Women transforming into mothers, that perinatal and postpartum rollercoaster. A difficult health diagnosis where you have to explore what your new normal is. At all these crossroads, we can get anxiety and depression, or feel paralyzed with fear or loss, and at anytime, any of these feelings can bubble up.

I have over a decade of experience working with individuals suffering with anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, relationship, life transitions, trauma and identity issues.
Do you feel alone and like no one understands you? Or like a prisoner in the skin you're in or the current life you live? Or maybe you are suffering from a recent heartbreak or one from years ago that you just can't seem to shake. Has fear or worry been in the driver seat throughout the majority of your journey through life and is it keeping you from living fully and authentically? Do you have more down days than usual? Are you ready to find healing, purpose or just truly learn to LIVE and not just EXIST? To finally be able to show up as your true authentic self? If you answered YES to any of these, you are in the right place.

The parents I serve appreciate my relatability as a mother of 2, who experienced pregnancy complications requiring bed rest.
You love your baby but this mom life is not giving…The tears and frustration just seem to come from nowhere. Sleep, what is that? You can’t remember the last time you got your hair done. It seems you do all the child rearing, household tasks and the work never ends! You try to ask him for help but if it’s to be done right, you have to do it. The to-do list is so long, it keeps you up at night. You are so accomplished in your career and not understanding why this mom life seems so out of grasp. It seems like you are the only mom who is overwhelmed & exhausted. You just want to escape.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?

In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
