Therapy should feel like a place where you can breathe, slow down, and talk openly without feeling judged. I work with children, teens, and adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, behavior concerns, family stress, and life transitions. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed or unsure of how to move forward, and together we work toward more clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.

I believe in promoting healing and healthy mind through effective psychotherapy. Life as magnificent as it is, comes with challenges that can overwhelm an individual to the point where his/her daily functioning is significantly impaired. Psychotherapy provides a means for managing and coping with issues that at some time or another interfere with daily functioning. My goal is to assist individuals with learning how to manage/cope with the challenges presented by life.

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have provided individual and family therapy for over 12years. Taking the first step toward therapy is an act of courage and I commend you for being here. Life can feel overwhelming, especially when we’re just trying to meet our basic needs while navigating stress, anxiety, or emotional pain. I understand how difficult it can be to find balance and prioritize your mental health, especially when each day can feel so different. Some days are filled with hope, while others feel nearly impossible.

Hi there! I am so glad you're here. No matter what stage of life you're at, seeking help is a hard first step. I know, because I've been where you are - staring at the page of yet another Psychology Today profile, debating on if THIS therapist is to be the one who will get to hear all of my deepest and darkest secrets. It's a deceptively straightforward decision (yes or no to Therapist Number 26), and I can't tell you what the outcome may be. What I can tell you is this: you are worthy of healing, and you are deserving of a space in which you feel safe, heard, and seen. My goal, in all sessions, is to help you get there.

It can be difficult to open up and talk about your life stressors to someone you don’t know. Sometimes we can feel unheard or alone and just need someone who can be a helping, nonjudgmental, and listening ear. The hardest part can be finding the words to express ourselves and process what can feel like a jumbled mess and you just need someone to help put the scattered puzzle pieces together to create a beautiful picture. Aristotle said it best, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” I can help with building coping skills, work on effective communication, self-expression, processing trauma/grief, and mindfulness.

Life is a series of transitions—some joyful, others deeply challenging. Whether it's leaving home for college and feeling unexpectedly homesick, embracing marriage and motherhood only to face disillusionment, navigating the ups and downs of hormonal changes, or mourning the loss of a loved one, these moments shape us. Adjusting to life’s changes can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate them alone.

Oppositional Defiance (ODD) Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for oppositional defiant disorder?

The treatment of Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) will involve multiple approaches designed to help both the youngster and their parents, sometimes including medication. A therapist will help a child learn ways to regulate their emotions, curb their impulsiveness, and counteract anger, defiance, and disruption, while showing parents ways to bring these lessons into their home. A technique designed for children with conditions like ODD, known as Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS), may also be used. CPS addresses a child’s concerns and rewards appropriate responses while discouraging harsh punishment or criticism.

How does treatment for oppositional defiant disorder work?

Treatment for ODD addresses the issues underlying a child’s defiance and disruption, the emotional regulation and impulse-control skills they lack, and the way adults respond to them. ODD therapy is based on the idea that children with the disorder understand the difference between right and wrong, that they want to behave well, and that, with help, they can. By responding to the child with empathy instead of harsh criticism, ignoring nonviolent behaviors, and rewarding positive actions, a therapist, and the other adults in a child’s life, can help children improve their behavior.

How long does therapy for oppositional defiant disorder take?

Therapy for oppositional defiant disorder is not a short-term undertaking. Depending on the severity of a child’s symptoms, their age, the presence of other conditions like ADHD, anxiety or a mood disorder, and their family dynamic, it can take months before improvement is noted. The cooperation of parents and teachers is crucial, because the skills learned in therapy must be practiced in real-world situations, with all their potential triggers.

Does oppositional defiant disorder go away?

ODD can remit following treatment. ODD is often diagnosed in nursery school, and early intervention is essential for a positive prognosis. In two-thirds of children, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, symptoms resolve within three years.
