NARCISSISTIC
ABUSE.
I work with different income levels and cultural backgrounds. I help them learn skills to change their lives for the better. I have decades of experience--cradle to grave. My cognitive-behavioral approach is to serve WITHOUT JUDGMENT or assuming how clients are without getting to know them one-to-one. All client information is confidential except as required by law: danger to self or others such as child or elder abuse. Fortunately, this is rare. CLERGY ENCOURAGED TO INQUIRE! ASK FOR DR. GRIFFIN!: THE VERY BEST WAY TO SCHEDULE IS BY EMAIL ACCORDING TO THE INTAKE SPECIALIST. GIVE TIME AND DATE AT: psychiatric.consult@aol.com

I work with people who have experienced trauma that can be the result from physical, sexual, spiritual or emotional abuse. But being raised by emotionally immature or
narcissistic
parents can also be traumatic and is often at the root of anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, and even physical problems. People can get stuck in "trauma reenactment" where they keep finding themselves re-creating patterns of dysfunction that go all the way back to childhood. Is everything trauma related? No. Sometimes life brings us challenges that we need support overcoming. Healing is a journey that you don't have to navigate alone.

My ideal client is an individual adult, or someone in a relationship having problems they want to resolve. I don't choose my clients, they choose me. With over 40 years of experience as a licensed independent psychologist, I continue to love what I do just as much or more than when I began my career. I am not just a "how does that make you feel" kind of therapist. I will challenge, confront and engage when necessary when I feel doing so will get you to where you said you wanted to go when you came for help.

Brenda Saturday
Marriage & Family Therapist, MA, LMFT, BC-TMH

"If you trust me with your time, I'll spend it wisely" -Andrew Peterson
Keeping these words in mind, I believe in treating the whole of the person not just the symptoms. Often, clients struggling with an addiction will say "if I just take care of this addiction, life will be much better." While this may be true, we have to look at the root of the problem as well as the addictive behavior. We want to transform the person which will help eliminate the problem.

Do you feel highly irritated, frustrated, and overwhelmed because you have too many things on your plate? Are you the person everyone comes to for help and you feel bitter, frustrated, and even resentful? We are broken people that come from broken people and that makes life hard sometimes. Often, we enter therapy yet remain ambivalent about the process, especially when we are the one who always has it together and takes care of everyone else. Ambivalence is natural, asking for help can be hard.

People seek therapy for all kinds of reasons. Some struggle with feelings of anxiety or depression. Others have experienced a trauma or significant loss. Some are trying to keep a relationship together or pick up the pieces after one’s broken apart. Some want to work through a problem that's held them back or been a seemingly constant source of guilt and shame. And others simply feel discouraged, unsure of themselves, or full of doubts and fears. Whatever your situation might be, therapy can help. It provides an opportunity to share your concerns with another person and work together to discover a way forward.

My name is Michel Bordeau and in addition to being a Clinical Social Worker, I am a Functional Nutrition Coach. I approach anxiety and stress management from an integrative and holistic perspective. Working together we will address the root causes of your worries. Self-belief and self-confidence are significant factors of anxiety, but so are sleeping, eating, and exercising habits, as well as the impact of relationships with family, friends, co-workers, and with one’s environment.

If life demonstrates anything, it's that change is truly our only constant. Yet, dealing with the change and managing the multitude of things which are thrown at us can seem completely impossible and unmanageable. It is possible, it is manageable, and sometimes we need some extra support to figure it out and truly heal.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists
What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.
How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.
Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.
How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
