Perhaps you’ve tried a few therapists and weren't able to connect. Maybe you never saw yourself represented, or that therapy felt too manualized. You’ve pushed off therapy for a while now, not because you're too prideful to get the support you need, but because the help you are looking for hasn’t centered your beliefs, identity(ies) and understanding of well-being. You want support that centers all of who you are, and you are looking for authentic, experienced care that can help you gain clarity, confidence, and contentment.

Are you feeling weighed down by the expectations of your family, culture, or community—while also trying to figure out who you truly are? Maybe you’ve spent years being the responsible one, the peacekeeper, or the one who never asks for help. And if you're in a relationship, these challenges can often show up between you and your partner—making it hard to communicate, feel seen, or move forward together. If any of this resonates, you're not alone—and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself anymore.

Mental health is an integral part of leading a wholesome healthy life. As the saying goes “healthy body, healthy mind”, the opposite is equally true. Life comes with all sorts of traumatic events and difficult circumstances that impact our mental wellbeing and manifests in feelings of sadness, anxiety, stress, anger and discontent. It is important for us all to navigate and overcome these difficulties so they don’t affect our overall health and quality of life.

Feelings of being, “stuck in mud or standing in quicksand”, in the sense of helplessness, feelings of being lost, unheard, unseen, or hopelessness? Masking your sadness with a smile while in the company of others or letting your extrovert behaviors come out, but in reality, it’s just a mask that covers your true thoughts and feelings. We often are unable to see just how much power we hold over our own lives that affects change in our day-to-day living. Our very own internal thoughts can sink us so far in depression that we forget how to live our lives to the fullest, There is nothing wrong with seeking help.

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! I believe the relationship between client and therapist is one of the most powerful tools for healing and growth. You don’t have to face your struggles alone and you don’t have to have everything figured out to start. Reaching out for help is not easy especially if you’ve lacked support in the past. But I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal. Sometimes, we just need someone to walk beside us to believe in us while we learn to believe in ourselves. I’m here to offer guidance, support, and a safe space where you can explore your story, build resilience, and move toward lasting change.

As a client-centered therapist, I believe in the human capacity to "self-actualize." In psychology, self-actualization is achieved when you're able to reach your full potential. I have learned that we are more alike than different in this work. Most people want to feel seen, heard, loved, valued, protected, and connected. Where one is missing, there is usually an amplification in anxiety. I am in the empathy business. I use connection and evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help clients clarify their "why" and navigate a path to deeper fulfillment—professionally and personally.

Many people come in feeling overwhelmed by stress, emotional reactivity, or the pressure to meet every expectation perfectly. It’s common to feel stuck in patterns of overthinking, people-pleasing, or guilt around boundaries. There’s often a desire to feel more grounded, communicate with clarity, and respond to challenges with confidence instead of frustration or shame. The hope is to understand what’s happening internally and create meaningful, lasting change in daily life. I help you find that clarity, understand yourself better, communicate effectively, and respond to challenges with intention instead of frustration or shame.

You may be a parent worried about your child’s anxiety, emotional outbursts, academic stress, or difficulty expressing themselves. Or you may be a college student or adult woman feeling overwhelmed by transitions, identity questions, burnout, grief, ADHD, or the constant pressure of carrying many roles at once. You want support that feels thoughtful, grounded, and understanding, a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and build tools to move forward with clarity and confidence.

I believe that each person is unique, shaped by their individual life experiences. My goal as a therapist is to collaborate with clients to explore their personal narratives, identify patterns, and reclaim their sense of agency, while enhancing communication and relationships—with themselves and others. My approach is primarily existential-humanistic, grounded in the belief that personal growth and meaning emerge through self-reflection and self-awareness. I also integrate evidence-based modalities such as Mindfulness, DBT, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), and (CBT) to facilitate lasting change and healing!

Have you built a successful life on paper but still feel unfulfilled, disconnected, or emotionally drained? You’ve likely mastered the art of handling everything — career, relationships, family — yet something feels out of alignment. You’re not alone in that feeling, and it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’re ready to pause, reassess, and realign with what truly matters.

As Brene Brown said, "Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we're supposed to be and embracing who we are". I believe that a healthy mind is the key to embracing our true selves. Engaging in psychotherapy is the first step to bravely honoring your needs and accepting yourself. It is my pleasure to walk that journey with you.

Muslim Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
A culturally sensitive therapist will be respectful of faith, race, sexual orientation, gender, age, disabilities, or anything that is relevant to an individual’s reasons for seeking therapy. This mental health practitioner will therefore be able to recognize the role of faith in a client’s life, and they can appreciate the cultural values and beliefs of others. Cultural sensitivity on the part of the therapist may enhance the possibility of a strong therapeutic bond, even if the clinician does not have an extensive understanding of a client’s background before therapy begins.

How might I inquire about a therapist's experience with Muslim clients?
It is best to ask directly whether a therapist has worked with Muslim clients, and if so, the extent to which cultural or religious principles factored into their work together. You can also ask whether a therapist who is familiar with Islamic practices, values, and beliefs incorporates them into their professional work, and if so, how. If the therapist does not have a sufficient knowledge base, they may well know and can refer you to someone who has such experience.

What if the therapist does not have my exact background?
It is not necessary for a therapist to share one’s exact religious background for therapy to be successful. A qualified and culturally sensitive therapist will appreciate diversity within the Muslim community as well as diversity overall, and will have a sense of how religious and cultural issues can contribute to mental health. In addition, a good therapist would be willing to learn from their clients.

How do I recognize an effective Muslim therapist?
Like all therapists, a Muslim therapist who is effective will have the requisite training and expertise in evidence-based techniques, as well as the ability to connect with you on a personal level. An effective Muslim therapist may also demonstrate a clear understanding of your cultural background and faith. A therapist with such cultural sensitivity will set the stage for a strong therapeutic alliance.

Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of the Muslim faith?
The directory of Muslim therapists includes mental health providers who have shared their cultural background in their profiles. Psychology Today uses this information to assist clients in finding a therapist with a similar background. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. When the number of therapists identified as Muslim is limited, the directory will also show therapists with extensive experience working with clients from relevant backgrounds.
