Through an
integrative
approach, I tailor my therapy to meet each client where they are in their own process of healing.
Do you find yourself feeling misunderstood? Wondering why you have a difficult time trusting others, or why relationships never seem to work out? Maybe you have been really hurt in the past, and it's now hard to feel safe? Maybe you catch yourself responding in ways that seem to just make situations worse? It's frustrating. It's exhausting. And we all know it's way easier to avoid these situations but THEN you're lonely and depressed. Therapy isn't just about finding "the right answer" or changing everything you do. Instead, it's about collaborating to find better solutions for living a more authentic life.

Integrative

Seeking therapy can feel a little daunting, or maybe even embarrassing, but you're making the right choice. Have you been struggling with grief or loss? Do you find it hard to stay happy even though you have achieved a lot? Have you discovered an unresolved trauma that needs healing? Are you experiencing anxiety in unmanageable ways? Or do you just want help letting go of things that are keeping you "stuck?" I think I can help with that.

Clinically, I approach therapy from an
integrative
perspective grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
We can all benefit from having someone to talk to when life presents various challenges and things become overwhelming. In my work, I value creating a therapeutic space where clients can share their experiences, feel heard, feel validated, and receive effective strategies to help achieve their goals. I acknowledge that seeking help is not always easy which is why I emphasize quality care, authenticity, and a trusting relationship with my clients. I take a holistic,
integrative
approach to health and trauma focused therapy.
As a Certified EMDR therapist, Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, and Career Coach, I help men and women quickly recover from set-backs, upsetting experiences and trauma that diminish self-esteem, and contribute to indecision, anxiety, sadness, shame, relationship problems and career issues. I address the root cause of problems and provide research based approaches to removing emotional blocks that hold clients back from feeling good and achieving their goals. I enjoy helping clients heal from childhood abuse, growing up with a narcissistic parent, not receiving sufficient affection or attention, and recent abuse and trauma.

I use an
integrative
approach to therapy, emphasizing the relationship between therapist and client and a belief in individuals' ability to achieve their goals.
We are born striving to prosper and grow. We respond to life experiences in ways that will protect us and allow us to cope with our environments. Often, the coping strategies essential at one point in our lives become ineffective-and even maladaptive-at another part of our lives. The therapeutic process allows us to explore patterns created through life experience, and choose healthier, more adaptive ways of coping and being. I approach my work with empathy, respect, and acceptance, creating a safe, supportive, and confidential environment in which to overcome obstacles-and allow for positive growth and lasting change.

What makes psychotherapy effective is the client/ therapist relationship; it is important to find someone with whom you can connect and feel at ease. I have worked with individuals, couples, groups and families for over 35 years. Clients come to me to address life issues such as personal/professional transitions, stress in relationships, health issues, grief and bereavement, anxiety and depression. I use
integrative
therapy, which combines traditional psychotherapy with proven alternative mind-body practices: meditation, visualization and tai chi/qigong. As a result, the mind, spirit and body all work together to promote healing, wellness and personal growth.

ANXIETY ISN'T A LIFE SENTENCE. SEEKING smart successful adults & older adolescents who are struggling with anxiety - to the point they are feeling uncomfortable, having trouble making decisions or see their ability to concentrate and work sliding away. Anxiety comes out of a lot of felt experiences: grief, loss, effects of trauma, medical conditions & illnesses, imposter syndrome, abuse; and show up in a lot of different ways: compulsive behaviors, trouble sleeping, panic attacks, pain, stomach upset, and self-doubt. Sweetgrass
Integrative
Counseling and Therapy can help you regain control and ease in your life.

I have a preference toward Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy, but I use an
integrative
approach to develop a treatment plan specific to your individual needs.
Beginning or restarting therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming, but it is a courageous step toward your wellness. Whether you are facing difficult life changes, have a desire to address ongoing struggles, or need help getting "unstuck," I will provide support as we explore ways to alleviate your distress.

I can support you to release the inner turmoil that comes up in hard situations by utilizing an
integrative
approach specific to your needs to integrate healthier coping skills.
Remember the last time you tried to avoid conflict? You did anything in your power to avoid having THE conversation or you gave in and said yes to just get it over with. Doing this was easier because you didn’t want to “rock the boat” or “don’t like conflict.” Saying no or having the conversation would have been even harder because you are afraid you’d “disappoint them” or they would no longer like you…and now the regret, the shoulds, the could haves are piling up on the inside. You feel intense anxiety and are not sure how to tell them no. However, this feeling isn’t new. It’s something that you’ve struggled with most of your life.

Through an
integrative
therapeutic approach, we will increase self-awareness paving the way for a more peaceful relationship with food and your body.
Do obsessive thoughts about food choices, weight gain, and body changes take up an unhealthy amount of mental space? Are your desires to be a healthy mother in conflict with your preoccupation with body image or dieting? Are you afraid of “getting too big” or never “getting back to normal”? Perhaps you are having trouble getting pregnant, or fear passing your weight anxieties onto your children. Changes in body image can feel like an identity crisis, leading to anxiety and depression. I work to alleviate the feelings of being out of control, guilty, and ashamed by rebuilding self-compassion and self-trust around food choices.

These nature and cross-cultural based therapies is the application of an “eco-
integrative
” model of care designed for those seeking transformative experiences that are both healing and reorientating.
As a holistic psychotherapist, I maintain a "mind-body-environment" perspective to understand how mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health are interconnected and interrelated to our relationships with others, the environment (nature-culture) and ourselves. I recognize that when these elements are imbalanced, it creates symptoms that can lead to suffering. Anxiety and depression, among other mind-body symptoms, are both cause and effect of this imbalance. They are also the cause of feeling stagnant in life, another root of suffering. Therefore, I hope to work with my patients to create balance and find flow in their life.

What is integrative therapy?
Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.
How does integrative therapy work?
Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.
How long does integrative therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
How effective is integrative therapy?
There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
