If you are a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) who is a high-achiever, I can help you reduce anxiety and create healthy relationships. Empathy pulls HSPs to rescue lost kittens and fight for the underdog. Unfortunately, your kindness is often taken advantage of, and sometimes abused. Intense emotions coupled with sensitivity to the environment make relaxation challenging. Together, we will navigate through relationships, anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, PTSD, and grief with a compassionate approach. You'll learn practical tools to reduce emotional distress, all while cultivating a strong sense of Self. All sessions are held on Zoom.

Many teens and adults come to me carrying experiences that still feel heavy, whether it’s childhood trauma, grief, family conflict, relationship wounds, or sudden life changes. These challenges can leave you feeling anxious, sad, angry, or overwhelmed. I offer a steady, compassionate space where you can feel safe, understood, and supported as you begin making sense of your emotions and rebuilding a greater sense of stability and control. I help partners navigate conflict, heal relational wounds, and develop practical tools for creating a more connected resilient relationship.

My practice is centered around helping people reconnect with their inherent goodness. So many of us walk around with a deep sense of unworthiness, a feeling that there's something wrong, finding ourselves in conflict with others, lacking purpose, and disconnected from our true selves. This is uncomfortable, painful even. In response to this discomfort, we develop all sorts of means to cope: drugs and alcohol, work, money, sex, video games, or TV. Or, we try to fix what’s “wrong” through perfectionism, achievement, therapy, or spirituality. We try to avoid or fix our insecurities out of fear, allowing them to grow.

My experiences as a queer, transgender man inform how I move through the world and how I work with clients. I understand the challenges and inherent stress of navigating institutional, educational, and family systems that fail to make space for all identities and backgrounds. My approach is grounded in anti-oppressive and culturally affirming principles and I enjoy working with individuals of all backgrounds. I aim to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space where clients can experiment with new skills and perspectives. I collaborate with clients to co-create realistic and sustainable goals.

My work with clients is collaborative. By identifying goals, highlighting strengths and resources and clarifying meaning and purpose for our lives we can regain peace, make healthy choices, and develop healthy thinking. In addition to traditional "talk" therapies I offer EMDR where indicated. ( One of three evidence based therapies recognized by WHO,US DOD/VA and other world health organizations.) My office is a calm, safe place to assess needs, explore options, develop a therapeutic protocol, set goals, focus on strengths and regain balance. I do this in a caring, supportive, confidential manner.

I believe that each person is unique, shaped by their individual life experiences. My goal as a therapist is to collaborate with clients to explore their personal narratives, identify patterns, and reclaim their sense of agency, while enhancing communication and relationships—with themselves and others. My approach is primarily existential-humanistic, grounded in the belief that personal growth and meaning emerge through self-reflection and self-awareness. I also integrate evidence-based modalities such as Mindfulness, DBT, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), and (CBT) to facilitate lasting change and healing!

I am a Marital and Family Therapist and I have been working with individuals, couples, and families for over 25 years. I believe in the worth and value of all humans and support their desire to have joy, fulfillment, creativity, and to have control of their destiny. I recognize that some experiences negatively impact our ability to access our internal and external resources to cope with what life throws at us, and so, we find ourselves needing the support of one who is trained and skilled to assist us on that journey toward growth, healing, and change.

In relationships, experiencing mistreatment, neglect, invalidation, rejection, or abandonment can lead to a profound sense of disconnection from ourselves and others. This detachment often leads us to mistakenly identify with this sense of disconnection, causing immense pain and making it challenging to be present with our own emotions. Such experiences can trigger a state of imbalance, characterized by anxiety, or a 'freeze' response accompanied by symptoms similar to depression. These are the effects of trauma—an emotional response to distressing events that leave us feeling powerless.

Having been trained in a humanistic/holistic model of therapy (Experiential, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Family Systems), I have adhered to what is now called an “integrative” approach to mental health issues.
I work with all ages, and “constellations” across the life span, all ethnicities, races, and sexual orientations. I am particularly interested in women’s personal and professional empowerment, and in challenges to both genders associated within life cycle transitions which, if not resolved, often lead to depression, anxiety, and other consequences.

My time at the University has refined my skills and knowledge, particularly in applying psychodynamic, Gestalt, and Cognitive Behavioral therapy techniques.
While I have experience with a variety of populations, my ideal clients range from 17 years old into their 30s. These individuals are transitioning from childhood, leaving their family home, and embarking on their adult lives. They face an increasing number of decisions, often feeling anxious and worn out from constant self-doubt. They question the reliability of their own thoughts and emotions. They tend to compare themselves to others, noticing their own perceived flaws. During this period, they encounter various developmental challenges that may be postponed or derailed. Sometimes people need assistance sorting it all out.

I offer a trauma-informed, person-centered approach using evidence-based methods like CBT, gestalt, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy.
I work with adolescents (12+) and young adult women who are struggling with perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-esteem challenges, anxiety, and relational difficulties. Many are gifted and over achieving individuals. They are often adjusting to major life transitions such as relationship changes, switching schools, and/or changing jobs. Together, we will explore how these experiences impact your sense of self and help you build confidence, set boundaries, and find balance in the midst of change.
