My time at the University has refined my skills and knowledge, particularly in applying psychodynamic, Gestalt, and Cognitive Behavioral therapy techniques.
While I have experience with a variety of populations, my ideal clients range from 17 years old into their 30s. These individuals are transitioning from childhood, leaving their family home, and embarking on their adult lives. They face an increasing number of decisions, often feeling anxious and worn out from constant self-doubt. They question the reliability of their own thoughts and emotions. They tend to compare themselves to others, noticing their own perceived flaws. During this period, they encounter various developmental challenges that may be postponed or derailed. Sometimes people need assistance sorting it all out.

Hi. I'm Brandon and I'm a gay, CIS-male psychotherapist and I have been serving the community in the heart of Atlanta for well over a decade. Up until I established Seeking Harmony Counseling, my focus has been in treating some of the most vulnerable among us. This is evident in the work I did in the eleven years I spent with Grady Memorial Hospital. Working at Grady gave me a great deal of experience in helping individuals struggling with "severe & persistent forms of mental illness" (or SPMI). This category includes diagnoses with the most debilitating symptoms such as mood disorders

I enjoy working with many types of people and the challenges they are having. The areas of grief and trauma, including the secondary effects, such as anxiety, depression, anger, relationship/trust issues,self-medicating and stagnation are my specialties. I use an eclectic approach to working with my clients, meaning that I like to employ many different styles of counseling into sessions. I approach issues honestly, openly and directly. I have been described as warm, genuine, easy to talk to and dedicated. I view every client in a holistic way. Rather than asking "what's wrong with you?" I ask "what have you been through?"

My approach integrates person-centered and humanistic principles with cognitive behavioral (CBT) and dialectical behavioral (DBT) techniques, alongside narrative and Gestalt methods.
I believe humans are born with natural instincts for belonging, connection, and communion—across friendships, family, and intimate relationships. Life’s experiences, culture, and belief systems shape how those instincts develop, and pain or disruption along the way can undermine our capacity to give and receive love. When coping strategies become short-term fixes, they often produce longer-term consequences that make connection feel unsafe or confusing. I help clients make what is unclear clear by listening to their story and holding a steady, nonjudgmental presence. In a culture that is hyperconnected but often disconnected.

Life is short. If your life doesn't look the way you want, NOW is the time to change. For almost two decades, I have helped clients bring their lives into line with their goals. Being a therapist isn't just about giving a listening ear. It's knowing what to listen for and what to do with that information. It's understanding how the mind, body and soul work together and how we get stuck at certain points. Therapy is focusing that knowledge to create change. Change is a skill and therapy is the place you learn it.

I help professional women assert themselves in the workplace and in their personal lives. There may be a fear of being judged or negatively labeled that keeps you from letting your light shine. When you are not able to be the full expression of yourself, you are often left feeling dissatisfied, disregarded, and overlooked. These feelings easily turn into resentment and can leave you feeling anxious or even depressed.

At Orion Psychotherapy, our mission is to support the expressive experiences of adolescents, adults, couples, and families, facilitating meaningful discovery and intentional change. With a Humanistic foundation and a person-centered approach, I meet you where you are and tailor techniques to your unique challenges. To be frank, I do much more than ask good questions and provide affirming vibes. I view treating mental illness and fostering mental health as distinct skills, encouraging clients to invest as much effort in addressing negative and dissociative emotions as they do in cultivating positive ones.

Gestalt Therapists
What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.

How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.

How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.

Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
