I specialize in helping teen boys and young adult men with anxiety, depression, ADHD,
family
conflict, and performance anxiety.
Growing up is hard. I am passionate about helping teens and young adult men with anxiety, depression, and other challenging situations. Adolescence and young adulthood is a time of constant change and new experiences. While this can be exciting, it can also cause an immense amount of anxiety. Do you feel like your mind just won't stop turning? Sometimes it might feel as if it is driven by a motor and just won't stop. Do you struggle to find the motivation that you once did, feeling numb more often than you would like? Teens and young adult men need a place to process these issues designed especially for them.

"When we deny our stories, they define us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending." -Brene Brown. Believing these words, I do my best to create a safe, non-judgmental, compassionate space for adult individuals, couples and families to own and process their stories, while finding meaning, healing and growth. We are dynamic people, capable of change and restoration, and it is an honor to facilitate and walk with a person through this process. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, addiction, chronic illness, marital concerns, trauma, anger management, international adjustments and transitions, and infertility.

I welcome those taking the step to seek therapy. The therapeutic experience is a unique and powerful one. Life can bring unexpected challenges during uncertain times. What we have control over is how we handle experiences and regulate our feelings/emotions/thoughts. A shift in perspective and new insight can be life changing. We do not live in a vaccum and problems, ( not excluded to) such as
family
of origin conflict, anxiety and depression may have always been present or come up later in life. I aim to aid you in facing discomfort, resolving the past, accepting the present and growing into the future with clarity and well being.

Children, teens, and young adults struggling with anxiety and difficult life transitions know that it can feel overwhelming, stressful and may feel worried that no one will understand how they feel. This may affect friendships, relationships with
family
members, school and work experiences, and many other areas of life. Therapy can help decrease anxiety and worries by teaching new coping skills to better manage anxiety and stress. This can lead to feeling a greater sense of self control, happiness and well being.

Although eating disorders are my primary area of expertise, have extensive experience and interest addressing such issues as anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD,
family
of origin issues, and personality disorders.
Working from a person-centered perspective, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important components for change. I offer an empathic space to explore your goals toward recovery. I use a variety of theoretical approaches, including CBT, existential, and interpersonal therapies. Specializing in eating disorders, I begin the therapeutic relationship by meeting clients where they are in the recovery process. I understand that the development of an eating disorder is complex, and that there is no "one size fits all" approach to treatment. I can help you learn positive coping skills and address body image, identity, and self-esteem issues.

Do you find yourself wishing your relationships with others were deeper? Do you crave intimacy, to feel known, listened to, and valued? In our world today, this deep sense of connection can be difficult to attain. As a therapist, I prioritize relationship, offer therapeutic connection, and facilitate intrapersonal and relational growth. I work with individuals to explore identity, sexuality, and the difficulties that may come along with attempting to know one’s self deeply and live authentically, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and

Having been trained in a humanistic/holistic model of therapy (Experiential, Gestalt, Psychodynamic,
Family
Systems), I have adhered to what is now called an “integrative” approach to mental health issues. Specifically, when I engage with a client we focus on the interaction of all the dimensions of his or her life, i.e., biological, psychological, social, behavioral, and spiritual. Subsequently, we embark on an exciting journey together to explore a path that leads to a more optimal state of well-being and a greater sense of wholeness.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
