Are you an individual or couple who struggles with addiction, codependency, or other coping behaviors that have not only stopped helping you but have started to hinder you and your relationships? If you were able to just stop doing those things, then you would have already done that. But so much about our behaviors and interactions is gripped by how we interpreted earlier experiences. Wouldn't you like help getting to the root of why you keep repeating the same unhealthy patterns? While those roots are often deep, it's never too late to start growing in a healthier direction.

There is hope. Life is difficult and sometimes it leaves us struggling with distorted thoughts, wounded emotions, and dysfunctional behaviors. Counseling is a wonderful way to address these issues. It invites the therapist into your story to help you acquire insight, skills, and knowledge to facilitate change. I am grateful to take that journey with you.

A great thing about therapy is having someone who is really on your side as you figure yourself out. It's hard to get started, but it's really worth it when you do. Anxiety and trauma bring so much misery. Believe it or not, our emotions are supposed to help us. When our thoughts and emotions work together, it is awesome. We know who we are. We have a sense of calm and purpose. We feel competent and effective. But emotions work from a different set of rules than thoughts. If we don't understand those rules, our emotions work against us. We feel things we do not want to feel, and we want to feel things that we don't. This can change.

I am a clinical psychologist specializing in anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and disordered eating. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic theory. I believe that healing occurs through the establishment of a trusted therapeutic relationship, increased self-awareness, healthy emotional expression and meaningful relationships. In helping patients gain greater self understanding, I empower them to break away from the cycles that no longer serve them and make choices that enable them to lead more satisfying and meaningful lives.

Is your mind constantly racing? Does the idea of having to talk about yourself or emotions seem overwhelming? Have others shared you're too sensitive or maybe you’ve found lights, textures, smells, or sounds can impact your mood? Does your body feel stressed (think tense shoulders, the sense you always have to be on, other people don't feel safe). Perhaps you wish the speeding heart, pit in your stomach, or sweaty palms could show up half as often as they do now? I’ll join you where you are and together we will explore awareness of your thoughts, emotions, body, and reactions. It does not always have the be the way it feels now.
